When you are interacting with someone, there is communication.

The process

begins when a thought, idea, or emotion is being transmitted to another person.

Communication functions apply to how individuals communicate for various reasons

and how it is affected by different times, places, and circumstances. There are five

communication functions: regulations/ control, social interactions, motivation,

information, and emotional expression.

Based on the videos given by each group, regulation/ control is when someone is

giving you commands. One example from the video is a girl telling her friend to move on

because the guy who broke her heart was not worth it. The next one is social

interaction, which is telling a story or introducing yourself to someone. The example

given is Pocahontas and John Smith introducing themselves and knowing their cultures.

The third function is motivation. Here is someone who is encouraging you to do

something, just like in the example, Jack Ma's ultimate advice for students and young

people on how to succeed in life. Another function is the information where it is giving

data or asking for clarifications. The example here was showing a man who got

information from the news that it will have a typhoon, and in the end, his boss also

informed him that he lost his job. Lastly, emotional expressions are how you express

your feelings. For example, Reiley felt sadness when she was about to leave her

parents.

These functions are used to certain activities or events. In conclusion, these

functions show how you deliver on how you would talk to someone.
