10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

Hey fellow freelancer!
If you’re reading this - you’re already doing something right.

You’re trying to improve yourself!!

I’ll teach you how to 2x, 3x, or even 10x your chances of getting
clients.

You’ll learn how to write cover letters clients actually read.

Main takeaway? You’ll have more clients reaching out.

I broke it down into 6 easy steps

And I’ll give you a full example of MY OWN cover letter.

P.S. Nobody likes copy/paste proposals! Read about each step and I’ll
teach you to understand the structure and psychology of cover
letters that WIN.

Sooo, let’s get started!

Hook:

Grab client’s
attention

10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

Start with a solid hook.

The hook is a concept or an idea that gets people interested in what

you have to say... and to offer.

If you don’t get the client’s attention in the first sentence - you lose
them.

To really HOOK a client, you need to hit them straight in their pain
point.
Here’s an example:

If the job post says something like:

“The design of our app is solid, but users don’t seem to continue
using the app after they sign up.”

You can say:

“Hey Joe, I understand you have problems with retaining users in your
app.”

Simple as that.

Clients will be happy someone reads their job post and actually
understands their problems.

So write about it in the 1st sentence.

Important - ALWAYS use the client’s name. If you don’t know it, find
their location and say something like: “Greetings to the USA ”

Problem
Awareness:

Understand the
pain points

10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

We already went through the basics of Problem Awareness in the
Hook section.

However, the problem is often more complex and layered.

Like an onion.
In that case, go even deeper and be more specific.

Here’s an example:

I understand
You have problems with user retentio
Signup flow in the app has too many step
You want to make the design accessible to all user
The identity verification process isn’t intuitive enough

This is important because

It’s a sign you read the whole job post
It shows you invested your energy and time
You now made yourself a part of their project.

This gets you both the client’s attention AND appreciation.

Your Solutions:

explain what
you will do

10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

Alright, we mentioned their problems.

A big step is done!

Now it’s time to give them a solution to their headache.

Let them know HOW you’ll help them achieve their goals.

Propose your direct and concise solutions with short explanations.

Be specific, mention what techniques and approach you will use.

Here’s an example
I’ll make your signup a 2-step process with my strong UX skill
I'll create meaningful designs with UX design, user flows, and
prototyping best practice
I'll make all designs accessible, inclusive, and responsiv
I've previously worked on many apps with the exact same pain
points

Portfolio:

Show that
you can do it

10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

All proposal work FALLS INTO WATER if you don’t have a strong
portfolio for the job.

If you’re a junior or beginner, it doesn’t have to be the best in the

world.

For senior and expert positions, it needs to be more legitimate.

In both cases, it needs to be presented well.

Include your personal website, Dribbble, or Behance page.

An advanced method is to create a Figma prototype of your projects.

(This is a designer-specific tip, but the point applies to everyone)

IMPORTANT:

Always send relevant portfolio projects!!

Cherrypick 3-5 projects that cover your client’s industry, style, or

deliverables.

Here’s an example:

Check out my previous work in your industry:

Relevant portfolio URL 1

Relevant portfolio URL 2

Relevant portfolio URL 3”

Now your client sees what you can give them.

Credibility:

Make them
trust you

10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

Use this section to write about your selling points.

If you worked with some well-known companies - mention them!

Or write about your experience, how many projects you’ve worked on,
etc.

Here’s how to do it:

“Some companies I worked for: Apple.com, Google.com,

Microsoft.com”

Or

“ I have been working as a UI/UX designer for over 10 years and

worked with 50+ healthcare startups.”

Or

“I’m the founder of 2 startups, and I’m exceptionally familiar with the
broader process, problems, and struggles that aren't related only to
design.”

Now the clients trust you more!

Your proposal
grand finale

10x Clients’ Response

By Writing Better Cover Letters www.marko.care

Did you know that 79% of people read the P.S. first, then the rest?
So the 1st thing people will read is at the end of the proposal!

This is the perfect chance to take advantage of it

Write a personalized messag
Invite the clients to schedule a cal
Tell them how exciting their project is to you

I often even combine a few of these.

Here are some examples:

“P.S. If you came this far, we should get in touch! ”

Or

“P.S. You have some of the best reviews from previous completed jobs
here on Upwork! I'm really excited about this opportunity ”

Or

“P.S. I've worked on a couple of similar projects (Project 1, Project 2,

Project 3) where I was in charge of:

1. Obligation 1

2. Obligation 2

3. Obligation 3
