DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 1

April 11, 2023

I. OBJECTIVES
a. Demonstrates understanding of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional figures.
b. Is able to describe, compare, and construct 2-dimensional and 3-
dimensional figures
c. Identifies names, and describes the four basic shapes (square, rectangle,
triangle, and circle) in 2-dimensional (flat/plane) and 3-dimensional (solid)
objects M1GE-IIIe-1
II. SUBJECT MATTER

Greetings

Good afternoon children.

Good afternoon, ma’am.

Prayer

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to

whom God’s love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side, to light and
guard, to rule and guide, Amen.

Checking of attendance

Who’s absent for today?

None. We are complete
attendance today.
That’s good to know.

Review

What was our last topic in mathematics?

About repeating patterns.

Very good.

Can you find the missing term in the

pattern below?
The missing term in the
repeating pattern is

Good job.

It seems that you really understand our

previous topic.

Motivation

Let sing a song.

https://youtu.be/e_04ZrNroTo

Nice voice children.

Activity

I have here a picture of the bus just like

in the song and a cut-out of different
shapes.

You need to paste the cut-out shapes in

the picture that you think will represents
the shapes also.

Do you understand?

Yes ma’am.
Analysis

Based on your activity, our topic for

today is all about identifying the names
and describe the four basic shapes.

What are the shapes you used in your

first activity?
Circle
Square
Triangle
Rectangle

Very good.
You used the four basic shapes such as

circle triangle

square rectangle

There are 2 dimensional and 3

dimensional figures.

But before that, what do you think is 2

dimensional figures?
A 2-dimensional figure is flat and
cannot be physically held.
Good job.
How about 3 – dimensional figures?
Figures that are solid and can be
physically held.
You’ve got it right.

I have here an illustration board and I

will draw a square on it.

Try to pick up the square on the

illustration board, Nick.
I can’t pick it up.
You can’t pick it up right? That is the
representation of 2 dimensional.

I have here a rubics cube. Try to hold

and pick it up, Atasha.

Did you get it?

Yes ma’am.

That is the difference between 2

dimensional and 3-dimensional figures.
What is this?
A plate.

Had you seen a plate?

Yes.

What is the purpose of this?

We use plate when it’s time to
eat.

Correct.

What shape do you see in this plate?

A circle.

Very good.

A circle a round-shaped figure that has

no corners or edges

Now in this classroom, we have a LED

tv.

Who else has a television in their

house?
Me.

Good to know.

You can watch your favorite cartoons in

a television.

What shape do you see in television?

A square.

You got it right. The screen of a

television has a shape just like square.

A square has four equal sides.

Do you see the big black board here in

front? Yes ma’am.
What shapes resemblance this black
board? Rectangle.

Correct. Look also at your desk, what

shape is that?
Rectangle too.

A rectangle – opposite sides are equal

and parallel.

I have here a cone of an ice cream.

Have you already tasted a cone of an

ice cream?
Yes ma’am.

Is it delicious or not?
delicious

What shape do you see in this cone?

a triangle

Very good.

A triangle has three sides.

Do you understand?

Yes.

Abstract

Look around and find something that

you think has a resemblance of the four
basic shapes.
The door , it looks like a
rectangle.

The electric fan has a

resemblance of a circle. It is
round.
My handkerchief looks like a
square when I fold it.

The tip of my pencil is a shape of

triangle.

Very good everyone. It seems that you

already know the four basic shapes and
you can identify shapes in 3-
dimensional objects.

Application

The class will be divided into 3 groups.

Each group will receive a cut out variety

of shapes, your task is you will create
and assemble your own piece.

Possible outcome:

Group 1
Build a Christmas tree using 3 triangles
and one rectangle.

Group 2
Create a pizza with ham using 1 circle
and 8 triangles.

Group 3
Create a truck using one rectangle, one
triangle, one square and two circles.

Be creative.
