A large number of random variables has the natural tendency to approximate the shape of a bell. It’s known as

Six standard properties of normal distribution

The normal probability distribution is bell-shaped.


The curve is symmetrical about its mean.
The mean is equal to the median and is also equal to the mode.
The spread of the curve depends on the standard deviation of the distribution.
The tail of the curve is asymptotic along the horizontal axis.
The area under the normal curve is 1.

A normal distribution with a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1.

The standard score measures how many standard deviations a given value (x) is above or below the mean.
