1. What are the differences between private law and public law? Of the two, where does criminal
law belong?
2. What is procedural law?
3. Identify and explain each of the three basic principles of criminal law.
4. Are the rights and freedoms under the Charter absolute? Explain your answer.
5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a comprehensive criminal statute in comparison
to a collection of different criminal statutes based on specific topics or based primarily on the
common law?
