1. Look for 5 words with the allophones of /t/ (5 words each type) with the
specific allophone of /t/ indicated.

BE SURE THAT THE WORDS YOU WILL WRITE IN THE TABLE DO NOT INCLUDE
THE WORDS IN THE VIDEO MATERIALS
2. Fill in the downloadable table attached for each group of sample
words.
3. Use each of the 5 words in a phrase and write them in the specific part
of the table.
4. Cite 3 web sources that you have visited for these words in your work.

7. Record yourself reading the words and phrases and save the recorded
material in your G. Drive
8. Submit the link of that video (NOT the link of the Drive) in the LMS
9. Submit the table onsite.
1. T replaces D in the past tense. After an
unvoiced consonant sound – f, k, p,s,ch, sh, th,
-except T.

Examples:
laughed picked hoped
watched washed unearthed
raised judged raced

Exceptions: wicked, naked, crooked


2. T at the middle of the word. – T is pronounced as D as
in (Idaly) for Italy

Examples:
Matty city Letty What a
Totally bought a Katie a lot of (aladof)
Cottage daughter data
got a (gada) percentage
3. The Held T before N- you need a sharp upward sliding
intonation up to the held T, then a quick drop for the
N.

Examples:

written mitten patent sentence


Martin mutant forgotten bitten
latent certain button mountain
curtain kitten cotton
4. The T held after N – it becomes a silent T (T and N are so close
to the mouth that they simply disappear).

Examples:
interview interface internet interstate
interrupt interfere interactive international
advantage twenty print out
winter enter printer
