A. Pre-activity
1. Prayer

“Good morning, class!” “Good morning, ma’am!” (Prayer)


“Before we start our class, let us pray first.”

2. Giving Reminders

“As we begin our class, May I remind you to


our basic rules. Raise your hand if you want to
talk or if you have any clarifications. “Yes, ma’am!”

3. Recapitulation of the last topic

“In the previous lesson, you learned about the


four types of sentences, who can give me the
four types of sentences? Random answers from students
“Very good!”

B. Motivation

“Now, let us have a short game before we


proceed to our new lesson. I have here two Okay Ma’am
cones of ice cream with different flavors. We
will put each flavor to the cones if the statement
is fact or opinion.
Now class, What are the two words that you Fact and Opinion
used to separate the sentences into two?
C. Lesson Proper

1. Introduction of the topic

“Very good. Our two mysterious words are


fact and opinion and that will be our topic for
today. But before we proceed, these are the
learning outcomes expected from you:
1. distinguish between fact and opinion
2. formulate a statement of fact and opinion in
making sound judgment; and
3. think and react critically about what you
see and hear online.

Discussion of the topic

“Let’s now differentiate the two terms: Fact is


an objective statement about something that can
be tested and proven to be true. For examples:
1. The capital of Philippines is Manila.
2. Bulacan is one of the provinces on the
island of Luzon in the Philippines.
3. Jose Rizal is our National Hero
4. There are 12 months in a year. Students answer may vary

Can you give me other example that shows fact

Very Good class, now let us proceed to what is


opinion?

Opinion is a subjective statement about a


person’s preferences, ideas and, belief.

For examples:
Facebook is better than Tiktok.
The TV Shows in GMA is better than ABSCBN.
The park is the happiest place to play with.
Students answer may vary

Do you agree with these statements?”

Even if everyone agreed, with the statements, they


are still opinions because they are not provable.”

Where can we usually hear, see, and read factual and


opinionated information?
Very Good! Now that you know the difference of We can find them in poster, radio, television,

are facts and some are merely opinions

from opinion based on what you see and
hear especially in the online world?

IV. ASSESSMENT

For our evaluation, get ½ lengthwise. You


have to identify the answer for each
sentence. We will have 10 items here in our LUMI
App. You will be given 10 seconds to write your
answer. Write fact if it’s a fact, and Opinion if its
opinion. Are we clear?

V. Assignment/Additional Activity
In your English notebook, write 5 examples of
sentences that shows fact, and 5 for opinion.
