The selected artifact, the Data Story Project, represents a comprehensive exploration into the
relationship between blood pressure control and healthcare costs. In this project, I utilized visualization
techniques to model data collected from the Health Resources and Services Administration as it relates to
patients who seek care at their health centers. The artifact involves a multilayered approach,
encompassing various techniques for data extraction, transformation, and analysis using different
software tools. Furthermore, it displays my ability to apply both structured and unstructured data to solve
clinical problems. This artifact not only reflects what I have learned through my graduate studies but also
clinical team.
This artifact effectively demonstrates several student learning outcomes and course learning
outcomes, particularly in the realm of data and knowledge management. It aligns with the ability to define
and identify appropriate data sets for healthcare analysis, analyze complex data sets utilizing data
visualization tools, and understand the role clinical data plays in revealing important patterns. These
patterns can inform healthcare decisions in evidence-based ways. The Data Story Project directly
addresses the program learning outcome in Data and Knowledge Management, showcasing how
informatics tools can assist the clinical team in identifying, analyzing, and managing healthcare data to
solve clinical problems. The construction of a data analysis plan, utilization of data visualization tools,
and the creation of a data story that communicates trends that recommended interventions all facilitated
