BK-AJG Series
User Manual

BIOBASE GROUP

Version 2021.01
Operating instructions of BK-AJG series anaerobic jar
1. The BK-AJG series anaerobic tank is a closed tank. When using it, please place the sample plate to
be cultured on the holder and put it in the tank, or put other samples to be cultured, such as test tubes,
small triangular flasks, etc., into the tank. .
2. If you need to observe the culture status in the tank, you can put the corresponding indicator into
the tank according to its operating instructions.
3. Put the anaerobic or microaerobic gas generating bag according to its operating instructions, tear
the outer packaging and quickly put the inner bag into the can, quickly close the can lid tightly and
slide the jig that fixes the lid to the lid.
Tighten the knob of the clamp clockwise by hand. Please note that the positioning rod under the
clamp should correspond to the positioning groove on the tank lid. When tightening, you can feel
resistance and then rotate it slightly down without excessive force.
4. Put the anaerobic tank into the incubator set at the required culture temperature, and the culture
time depends on the growth characteristics of the bacteria to be cultured.
5. After the cultivation, take out the air bag and other sundries, rinse the tank with water, and dry it
for later use.
Precautions:
1. Do not use alcohol to scrub the culture tank.
2. The highest temperature resistance of the culture tank made of PMMM is generally not more than
80℃; it is prohibited to touch the tank with sharp objects.
3. Please clean the sealing ring in the groove of the tank lid according to the usage, and apply a thin
layer of acid-free petroleum jelly or silicone oil ester with your fingers or swab.
4. It is recommended to use a mild neutral cleaning disinfectant or other suitable products when
cleaning and disinfecting the tank. Wipe and disinfect the tank and then wipe or rinse it with water.
5. Do not drop the tank body against the hard surface and regularly check whether the tank body has
cracks or breakages. Regularly check whether the sealing ring is damaged and update it in time.

Instruction for Anaerobic jar

Anaerobic series anaerobic jar is an excellent airtight container for laboratory use. Oxygen-sensitive
micro-organisms are often cultivated in anaerobic jars.
Basic directions for use
Fill the jars
Place the inoculated dishes, tubes, micro well plates, or other samples in the jar with the help of Petri
dish holder.
In case of anaerobic inoculation, add an active catalyst or an optical Oxygen indicator if required.
Close the jars
Close the lid on the jar and slide the jar clamp over the lid, tighten the jar clamp screw clockwise
with finger.
Connect jars
Connect jar by pushing the jar tube connector directly in the snap shut coupling on the lid. DO NOT
TWIST IT IN!
In case the connector does not slide in, please first pull the outer ring of the snap shut coupling

1
downward.
For manual operation, connect the black tube through a Y type connector to a vacuum line and a gas
supply. First evacuate the system to about -0.6 bar, the jar clamp screw must NOT be further
tightened if it appears loose. Then after evacuation, let the gas mixture run into the jar until the
pressure is zero.
Disconnect and incubate the jars
After evacuation and gas filling, disconnect the jar by pulling the outer ring of the snap-shut coupling
downward. The jar tube should jump out of the snap-shut coupling. And the snap-shut coupling will
be closed. Please hold the black tube with your hand, as it may jump up. PLEASE DO NOT
TWIST TO TAKE OFF THE JAR TUBE CONNECTOR.
Put the jar into an incubator, then after the appropriate incubation period remove the plates or tubes
and examine for the presence of anaerobes.
Jar cleaner and disinfectant
The jars are never .....to be cleaned with alcohol, and not to be cleaned under temperatures of
more than 80℃.
Neutral detergent and disinfectant is recommended to use for the jar cleaning. Then rinse the jar with
clean water.
The Anaerolab series jars could also be used as BK-AJG series jars, please see the related
BK-AJG jar instruction for reference.
Basic directions for use (BK-AJG JARS ONLY)
Fill the jars
Place the inoculated dishes, tubes, micro well plates, or other samples in the jar with the help of Petri
dish holder.
In case of anaerobic inoculate, add an active catalyst or tear open the foil sachet of anaerobic
generator and immediately place the corresponding paper sachet into the jar, and if required, add an
optical Oxygen indicator.
Close the jars
Close the lid on the jar immediately........... and slide the jar clamp over the lid, then
tighten the jar clamp screw clockwise with finger ASAP.
Incubate the jars
Put the jar into an incubator, then after the appropriate incubation period remove the plates or tubes
and examine for the presence of anaerobes.
Jar cleaner and disinfectant
The jars are never .....to be cleaned with alcohol, and not to be cleaned under temperatures
of more than 80℃.
Neutral detergent and disinfectant is recommended to use for the jar cleaning. Then rinse the jar with
clean water.
Jar Maintenance
The jars are never to be cleaned with alcohol, and not to be exposed to temperatures of more than
80℃.
Keep dust away from the snap-shut coupling and the jar tube connector.
It is advisable to perform the following maintenance regularly on the jars:
Spray a little Teflon-spray in the snap-shut coupling to keep coupling supple.
Clean and apply acid-free Vaseline or silicon oil on the rubber O-ring of the lid. You can do this

2
using a swab or finger.
Never touch the jar with anything sharp or hard.
Do not drop the jar.
