Write a discursive essay one the topic of smartphones. Talk about overuse, digital detox,
prohibitions (e.g. using it a school/at work), and any other idea you might have.

There is a model essay on page 125. See handout.

Nowadays is unthinkable imagining a world without smartphones. This little digital device literally embraces
our lives and allows us to stay connected with the world.

First of all, every phone provides a gps connection in order to keep updated our location every time we
need to. This is very useful when you go on holiday or whenever you get lost.
Through the development of internet, people can easily reach avery angle of the earth with a click, from
online shopping, delivery food to call your grandmother who lives on the other side of the world.
Moreover, companies are incrisingly introducing platforms where people can find them and where they can
apply for job positions.

On the other hand, people have an addition to phones; they’re stuck in mindless scrolling and face risky
circumstances, for example crossing the street without looking at the cars.
Another problem is related to kids. Children born in gen z are no longer interested in human interaction due
to the overuse of this system. They are children and of course they are unconscious of what they are doing;
in fact, the problem starts from parents, who decide to give it to them in order to make them quiet.

However, its important to keep in mind that the problem is not the evolution of the digital and the solution
is not avoiding it. It is to say, people should use it in a properly way, being responsible for their actions.

In the ends, our century is based on this innovation and to learn a lesson of the possibility we have to never
be alone.
