Chromebook Agreement

Poway Unified School District


The Poway Unified School District will be supplying students in grades TK-12 with a Chromebook device. The PUSD
issued device will provide each student access to educational materials and digital learning resources such as MyPlan,
Canvas, Google Workspace for Education, digital textbooks, and other web-based educational tools required by the
curriculum.
Student Responsibility
The Chromebook is an educational tool and is intended for educational purposes only. Students are responsible for the
general care of their Chromebook.
Content/Web Filtering
Internet content will be filtered while the student’s Chromebook is connected to the District’s WiFi as well as other networks.
No web-filtering product is foolproof or as impactful as a conversation between a student and their parent/guardian about
Internet Safety and the expectations of behavior while online. PUSD will not be responsible for any problems experienced
while on the Internet.
Terms of Use
The Chromebook is considered district property while the student is enrolled at school in the Poway Unified School District.
The student shall return the Chromebook and power cord in good operating condition to Poway Unified School District at the
designated date and time set forth by the District. If the student terminates enrollment with the District for any reason, he or she
must return the Chromebook and power cord to the site/District within seven days. The District may require the student to
return the Chromebook and power cord without notice, at any time and for any reason.
Use of Equipment
In accordance with Board Policy 6161.2, students are responsible for the proper care of school issued property and the
equipment. Parents/guardians will be responsible for District-owned technology property that is issued to their student(s), just
as they are for other District items such as textbooks, athletic equipment, or library books.

Parent/Guardian Agreement
As the parent or legal guardian of the above minor, I have read, understand, and agree that my child will comply with the terms
of the Student Use of Technology Board Policy 6163.4 and Exhibit 6163.4, and Damaged or Lost Instructional Materials,
Board Policy 6161.2. I understand that the Chromebooks are a privilege and can be revoked if misused. I agree to indemnify
and hold harmless the School and the School District that provides a Chromebook to my child, against all claims, losses, and
damages, losses, and costs, of whatever kind, that may result from my child's use of his or her Chromebook or violation of the
foregoing policies and procedures. Further, I accept responsibility for the supervision of my child's use of his or her
Chromebook if and when such access is not occurring during the school day. I hereby give permission for my child to use a
Chromebook authorized by the Poway Unified School District.
