INTRODUCTION

One of the course prerequisites for graduation is Work Immersion. Work Immersion is required of a
Senior High School student in an industry that is directly related to the student's post-secondary objective.
Students are exposed to and become familiar with work-relevant environments pertaining to their field of study
through Work Immersion, which helps them to improve their competency. Students can: (i) gain relevant and
practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and workers; (ii) appreciate the importance and
application of the principles and theories taught in school; (iii) improve their technical knowledge and skills; (iv)
improve their communications and human relations skills; and (v) develop good work habits, attitudes,
appreciation, and respect for work. These prepare them to meet employment or higher education needs and
challenges after graduation.

This course is meant to allow students to combine their knowledge across the several learning areas of
accounting, business, and management. It emphasizes on actual product and performance exhibitions/exhibits as
evidence of their learning in Accounting, Business, and Management.

As the new academic year begins, with some students learning remotely and others returning in person,
we encourage educators to take a step back and consider what worked — and what didn't — during remote
learning last spring. While we eagerly await the day when all schools can safely resume classes in person, we
highly advise against returning to "business as usual." Prior to COVID-19, "normal" was not working for a lot of
students.

Since the 2020 remote learning experiment upended traditional school schedules and approaches to
teaching and learning, educators now have the opportunity to use key lessons and insights learned during this
time to create a new normal that better supports student well-being, equity, and engagement with learning for all
students in the coming semester and beyond.

The portfolio is one of the most powerful tools we can employ in the new normal of education. In
education, a portfolio is a collection of work that shows effort, progress, and accomplishment in one or more
areas. As a result, this portfolio strives to highlight the student's greatest work (in and out of class) that
represents the achievement of learning goals in each of the ABM strand's specialized courses.
