 Develop an appreciation for language and expression through poetry
 Create their own original poem

A. Awareness

I. Greetings
Teacher greets the students
II. Prayers
Teacher leads the prayer
III. Classroom Management
Teacher asks the students to arrange their chairs and pick up pieces of trashes
IV. Attendance Checking
Teacher asks group leaders if there is any absentee
V. Review
Teacher asks the students about their previous topic (about fiction and non-fiction)
VI. Motivation
Teacher asks to bring out scratch paper and solve the game. "LOOK TO FIND THE TOPIC" is the
title of the game.

Poetry

- It is an imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound, and rhythmic


language choices so as to evoke an emotional response.

Elements of the Poetry

Theme - it is the controlling idea of a poem, is the idea continuously developed throughout the poem by
sets of key words that identify the poet's subject and his attitude or feeling about it.

Stanza - is a group of line within a poem which may have two or many lines. They are like paragraphs.

Rhyme- is the repetitive pattern of sounds found in poetry. They are used to reinforce a pattern or
rhyme scheme usually end rhymes (words at the end of a line). They give balance and please the ear.

Rhythm - refers to the metrical rhythm that involves the arrangement of syllables into repeating
patterns called feet

Figurative Language - includes the use of metaphors, similes, personification, hyperbole, and
symbols.These techniques compare or describe something abstract or intangible in terms of something
concrete or tangible.
Teacher introduces the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost.

B. ACTIVITY

Teacher ask the students to answer these questions:

1. What is the theme of the poem?


2. Which road did he took? Why?
3. Why is the title "The road not taken" not "The road taken"?
4. If you are going to choose betwen two roads, what would you choose?

C. ANALYSIS

Teacher gives time to the students to present their outputs

Is the theme provided by your classmates the same as what you are thinking?

What is the difference between the two roads?

Each group are assigned to identify the elements of the poetry in the poem of Robert Frost

Identify the elements of poetry that are being described.

4. It is also called poetic language that makes the poem more colorful

5. It refers to the lines in the poem

G. ASSIGNMENT

Create your own poem (there is no rule as long as you can consider it as a poem) and identify the
different elements in the poem and put it in their corresponding column.
