Mass media journalists play an important role in finding and disseminating factual and current news,

including preventing hoax news. However, current developments in technology and information have
led to the rise of hoax news spread by irresponsible parties. This research aims to examine the role of
LKBN Antara Bengkulu in preventing the spread of hoax news, examine the challenges faced, and the
solution steps implemented. This research uses an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative case study
type approach. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with informants, namely the
Main Director of LKBN Antara Bengkulu. Data were analyzed qualitatively including the stages of data
collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show
that LKBN Antara Bengkulu plays a role in preventing the spread of hoax news through implementing a
journalistic code of ethics in news publishing, starting from setting the coverage agenda, journalists are
tasked with covering information in the field, then the information is written down, then the writing is
sent to CMS. The editor will edit the news manuscript until the news is finally published to the public.
The challenge faced by LKBN Antara Bengkulu in preventing the spread of hoax news is the inability to
limit the public (netizens) from having opinions, posting narratives, and reposting news even though the
truth of the news is not yet known, because the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia Article
28E paragraph 3 guarantees freedom of opinion for everyone. individual. The solution taken to prevent
the spread of hoax news is to create an Anti-Hoax channel on the news portal antarnews.com which can
be accessed at any time by the public to check the truth of the news.
