Climate Change

The world we are living in provides us with a harmonious

environment, supplying us all the things we need for our
survival free of charge. But, the world is now in great danger
due to climate change. Climate change refers to the change in
the environmental conditions of the earth.
The climate change has become a global concern over
the last few decades. It has had a dramatic impact on the
ecosystem, making some species of plants and animals lose
their habitats and go extinct. It also affects the livelihood and
health of human beings by reducing the quality of drinking
water, air and soil. The world will soon become a disastrous
place as climate change also leads to unpredictable extreme
weather conditions such as droughts, heavy rain, floods,
storms, etc.
Some of the factors of climate change are natural disasters
like volcanic eruption and forest fires. The quality of air has
been degraded because of carbon emissions and the
geographical condition of areas become quite tough for life to
survive. Also, they raise the temperature of the earth to a
great extent, causing an imbalance in nature and leading to
global warming.
Human activities like deforestation, combustion of fossil fuels
and animal agriculture also contribute to climate change.
Trees purify water and filter the air by absorbing carbon
dioxide and releasing oxygen. Therefore, if trees are cut down,
not only air pollution but also water pollution will occur.
When fossil fuels like oil, natural gas and coal are burnt to
generate energy, abundant amount of greenhouse gases are
emitted into the air. Greenhouse gases trap heat in the
atmosphere. As a consequence, climates will change as they
all are linking to each other. Animal agriculture is also
threatening the environment by producing 65% of the world's
nitrous oxide emissions which has a global warming impact
296 times greater than carbon dioxide. Raising livestock and
animal-based food productions are known to exacerbate the
climate change crisis with their significant GHG footprints.
As climate change is harming lives and resources of our earth,
if we do not take action now then a day in future will come
when humans become extinct and disappear from the surface
of the earth. We need to raise awareness of the environment
and do environmental conservation in order to combat
climate change. One thing we can do is reforestation,
replanting trees as much as we can. We can also replace fossil
fuels with renewable source of energy such as wind or solar
so that air pollution can be diminished. Shifting towards
consuming more plant-based food than animal-based foods is
an option for curbing GHG emission and climate change, too.
In conclusion, climate change is a global challenge that
stems from a combination of natural forces and human
activities. While we cannot control natural forces, it is within
our power to mitigate the impact of human activities that
damage the environment. Therefore, I think that individuals
have the responsibility to try their best to protect our earth.
