About Godrej-Koerber: Godrej Koerber Supply Chain Limited (Formerly Godrej
Consoveyo Logistics Automation Ltd.) is a Joint Venture between Godrej &
Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., India and Koerber AG, Germany. Godrej Koerber is pioneer
and leader in offering automated solutions for storage, movement and
handling inventories in Manufacturing and Distribution domain in India. Godrej
Koerber offers technologically advanced and customized solutions by
integrating best-in-class technologies from its technology partner Koerber
Supply Chain.

Koerber AG is a German technology company that operates globally and


specializes in various industries, including logistics, pharma, tissue, tobacco,
and more. The company was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in
Hamburg, Germany. Koerber AG is structured into four divisions: Digital,
Pharma, Supply Chain, and Tissue.

Supply Chain Division: The Supply Chain division offers comprehensive


solutions for supply chain management. They provide software, automation,
and consulting services to optimize logistics processes, increase operational
efficiency, and improve warehouse management. Their solutions enable better
inventory management, streamlined order fulfilment, and enhanced visibility
throughout the supply chain.
Products:

Stacker Cranes- Stacker Cranes are automated machines that perform the
storage and retrieval of goods while working within the racking system.

Conveyors- Conveyors are the key to ensuring a fast, efficient and accurate
transportation of goods between all your operational areas.
RGV- The Rail Guided Vehicle System is based on intelligent, high-speed and
floored rail guided vehicles fitted for a wide range of load handling
applications. This technology is an efficient, cost-effective and fast option for
complex sorting applications or connecting very distant points. It is also an
interesting alternative to long conveyor lines when the load handling units are
not standardized.

Summary of Internship:
During my internship at Godrej-Koerber, I had the opportunity to work within
the Machine Design Division of the company. My main focus was split between
benchmarking existing products with solutions available from competitors and
exploring competition in new areas of interest. Additionally, I helped design a
new modification for an existing product using 3D design software. Throughout
my internship, I was able to gain valuable insights and practical experience in
the field of machine design and its application in business operations.

Throughout my internship, I was provided with guidance and mentorship from


experienced professionals within the company. Their support and expertise
greatly contributed to my learning and growth during the internship period.

Overall, my internship at Godrej-Koerber was a valuable experience that


provided me with practical insights into the AS/RS landscape and its
applications across industries. It allowed me to apply my knowledge, work with
cutting-edge technologies, and develop essential skills for my future career. I
am grateful for the opportunity and the positive impact it has had on my
personal and professional development.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Benchmarking
One of my primary roles at Godrej Koerber consisted of benchmarking their
existing solutions and comparing them with solutions on offer from other
companies in the field.
During my time at the organization I was responsible for comparing and
benchmarking several products such as:
1. Satellite Shuttle ASRS
2. Autonomous Mobile Robot
3. RGVs
4. Stacker Cranes
5. Miniload Cranes
6. Light Load Conveyor Systems
7. Pallet Conveyor Systems
8. Forks
9. Vacuum Tube Lifters
10.Wrapping Machine
11.Scissor Lifts
12.Strapping Machines.
Besides these, I also gained a deep understanding of ASRS systems on offer
from different companies.
2. Design Tasks
I was directly involved in the design procedure of a new variation to be
introduced in an existing product. This helped me understand the utility of
designing software in the real world.

2b. Procurement and Outsourcing of Components


I was tasked with selecting components based on the list of requirements
and constraints of the client.
2c. Material Selection for Special Use Cases
My primary objective here was to determine materials for manufacture of
components that would be subjected to challenging conditions in their
operation.
3. Analysis
Researched about Jominy End Quench Test and it’s utility in the Industry.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, my internship experience at Godrej-Koerber has been an
incredibly enriching and insightful journey. Throughout my time at the
company, I have had the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled
professionals in the field of material handling solutions.
During my internship, I was exposed to various aspects of the company's
operations, including warehouse management systems, automated storage
and retrieval systems. Working on real-world projects, I was able to apply
the knowledge I gained from my academic studies and witness first-hand
how these technologies are implemented and leveraged to improve
efficiency and productivity.
My internship at Godrej-Koerber has been an invaluable experience,
bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. I
am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Godrej-Koerber and would
like to express my heartfelt appreciation to the entire team for their
guidance, mentorship, and support throughout my internship.
