Introduction 1
1.Introduction This chapter describes how the various software and parameters of these
units can be updated or edited from an MS WindowsTM based PC, and
the software required.
Two types of software can be downloaded from the Husqvarna Sup-
port Site:
PC applications
– for managing uploads or adjusting firmware options to ma-
chine devices or Control terminal.
– downloadable from the Husqvarna Support Site.
Runtime system & Firmware
– control programs required for various system devices, such as
machine modules or remote terminal.
– before upgrading, please refer to the relevant service bulletin
or release note. A firmware upgrade may not be relevant to the
system control device concerned.
– for information on the latest version of runtime system, firm-
ware and parameter files available for Machine Controller
modules (PLC), Control Terminal and Bluetooth® radio
module, please refer to the Husqvarna Support Site.
Special cables and adaptors are required for connecting the PC with Ma-
chine Controller modules, Control Terminal and Bluetooth® radio
module. These are displayed under the Tools section (last chapter). All
these parts can be orders from Husqvarna.

The control system

The control system of a Husqvarna Demolition Robot comprises three
main units:
• Machine with two Controller modules that control the machine
functions, e.g. all hydraulic functions, electric motor, grease pump,
working light, horn etc. Depending on machine model, the control
system has one of the following configurations:
(a) Later models: two 2020 controller modules (primary and second-
ary)
(b) Earlier models: one 2024 controller module (primary) and one
2038 controller module (secondary)
The Controller modules require a Runtime system (EPEC operating
system) and Husqvarna specific firmware. In normal cases a software
upgrade only concern the Husqvarna firmware.
Different PC applications are required for loading of Runtime system
and Husqvarna firmware respectively.
Please see Workshop manual for configuration reference
• Control Terminal for the operator to remote control the machine by
means of joysticks, knobs and buttons and a TFT display to access
machine functionality and to overview its status.
The circuit board contain specific Husqvarna firmware.
• Bluetooth® radio link comprising two Bluetooth® radio modules
that transmit CAN messages between Machine and Control Termin-
al.
– One Bluetooth® radio module is connected to the Ma-
chine's two Controller modules through the machine
CAN bus
– The other Bluetooth® radio module is located inside the
Control Terminal
