REFLECTION

At this point in time, reflect in how you can acquire these professional standards.

Teaching is a dynamic profession. The professional standards necessitate that a teacher

should establish a clear expectation and effective ways to practice teaching including the
training. It also helps to support and enforce professionalism by providing lifelong learning and
career foundation for the whole range of professional career. First of all, as an education student
I need to finish my 4-year course and passed the licensure examination for teachers. After that I
will acquire the necessary standards by never stop learning. I believe lifelong learning is an
essential tool for any career or profession because it develops critical thinking skills and
innovative ideas. Through this, I would not be stagnant and I could be able to develop what I
already know. This way will allow me to maintain my relevance in the industry where I belong.
In order to respond to the rapid and changing demand of the system I must constantly learn new
skills and ideas that I can apply in teaching. Some of the ways to do this is to attend every
seminars and workshops, be mindful of my environment, talking to people and going out of my
safe place. In addition, it is equally important to listen, gain wisdom, and adopt effective
techniques from more knowledgeable people.
 As a future teacher, I have to have mastery of the content knowledge and identified the
interconnectedness among and within curriculum areas. Moreover, I need to be updated about
the current trends or adjustments in the pedagogy in order to provide an effective and enjoyable
learning environment to my students. Usage of research and application of understanding of the
theoretical practices in learning may also help in attaining my professional standard. Through
this, I can identify how to effectively use the acquired knowledge to foster and promote positive
learning behavior and environment. I also have to hold integrity, show respect to everyone and
always keep my feet on the ground. Lastly is the practice of self-assessment because this will
help me refocus or redirect my visions if ever I am losing track of what I want to achieve or
accomplish during the entire course of my career.
