1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is provide a guideline to carry out the hydrostatic test to
check soundness of welds of the equipment.

2. EQUIPMENT AND WORKING TOOLS

Water that is used in test, test pump, blind flanges, pressure indicator.

The test scheme shall have suitable connections, necessary valve and calibrated pressure
gauge.

3. REFERENCE CODE

EN 13445-5

EN 14015

API 650

ASME SEC VIII

AD 2000-Merkblatt HP 30

4. PERSONAL

The personnel shall be competent and have thorough knowledge in performing this method

5. PROCEDURE

If test will done under pressure; pressure test operation is done as the procedure written below.
The problems which are seen during operation are proceeded as article “7th Reaction Plan”.

• Production documents are examined for the operation

• Water quality and the percentage of the salt are detected and those are controlled whether is
harmful or not for the material.

• During test, necessary precautions are taken for the equipment that can be deformed. If it is
necessary, special case is prepared under the equipment.

• To take in and out the water, necessary valves should be assembled. To take in the air which
is stored on the top of the equipment a ½” spherical valve should be assembled.

• After all the preparations, equipment is filled with test water

• After the air is taken out, as the top valve is closed, the equipment is controlled by sight and if
there is any leakage, it should be repaired.

• If the above situation is happened, the manager of the production is informed about the
situation and test continues with the control of the manager of the production

• The pressure is adjusted as the document. The duration of the test should have min 1 hour.

• The pressure change is checked in every 10 minutes, if any pressure change is not detected
on the manometers, this means the pressure test is accomplished.

If test will done with unpressured water; test operation is done as the procedure written
below. The problems which are seen during operation are proceeded as article “7th Reaction
Plan”.

• Production documents are examined for the operation

• Water quality and the percentage of the salt are detected and those are controlled whether is
harmful or not for the material.

• During test, necessary precautions are taken for the equipment that can be deformed. If it is
necessary, special case is prepared under the equipment.

• After all the preparations, equipment is filled with test water

• The duration of the test should have min. 1 hour.

• The equipment is controlled by sight and if there is any leakage, it should be repaired

• If the above situation is happened, the manager of the production is informed about the
situation and test continues with the control of the manager of the production

• If no leaking has observed, this means the pressure test is accomplished.

Testing is made done according to project ITP which refers to EN 13445-5, EN 14015, API 650,
ASME SEC VIII, AD 2000-Merkblatt HP 30 standards.

6. CONTROL

Control written below is applied by the operator who is done the pressure test operation.

If any problem is detected after the control, as the article “7th Reaction plan” written in
instruction is proceeded.

Welded Part Eye Control: All the weld seams are controlled by sight and it is checked for if
there is any problem such as leakage.

Manometer Control: During test, pressure drop is examined.

7. REACTION PLAN

If test will done under pressure; during pressure test, if any leakage or deformation is detected,
the test is immediately stopped and the pressure is dropped by the operator.
Manager of the production is informed about the situation.

If test will done with unpressured water; during test, if any leakage or deformation is detected,
the test is immediately stopped and water is drained.
Manager of the production is informed about the situation.

8. INSPECTION REPORT

The test shall be carried out in presence of the owner/contractor/sub-contractor Inspector.

Upon satisfactory inspection, the test report shall be prepared with approved format.

9. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

The area under test is acceptable when no leaking and no deformation is observed.
