When it comes to travelling and being passionate about it there would have to be some type of
transformation that takes place, it could be many different things that happen during the
experience that make this learning experience stand out. For example, the whole learning
experience of being somewhere new and foreign is something that makes it transform because
while you are there you are learning a new way of living in a sense. This place is somewhere you
have never been before and you may not know anyone; you are meeting new people and
following their customs and ways of living, adapting to their lifestyles. The travelling part of this
experience is a bit scary and exciting at the same time and it makes you feel alive. You are
seeing new sites and areas, interacting with locals who live there regularly, you are the outsider
there and must learn to adapt to their world. Travelling will have both positive and negative
experiences, anywhere I have travelled has always had both. The first time I traveled to Mexico I
was 16 years old, and it was the first and only time I have been outside of the United States. I
remember the trip very clearly, it was a real learning experience for myself, trying to learn the
language out there and speak it correctly, even something as simple as ordering a meal can be a
bit frustrating when you may not know the language as well as you would like to. Even going to
different areas out there was a bit of a problem, there were times I got lost and it took me forever
to find my way back to the hotel I was staying at. However, I do remember the first time that I
got to spend the day on the beach and it was amazing seeing the ocean and getting to spend time
around people who live there all the time who take the things for granted that are amazing to the
person travelling to whom they are new to. I also remember part of the trip being horrible due to
me getting sick and having sun poisoning. On top of that, I hate not being home when I am sick
and all I wanted was to be comfortable and not be somewhere where everything was a bit of an
ordeal. These great times and inconvenient times make up our travelling experience and they are
what make the experience so transcending and such a special experience. For most, I would
believe that there is always something that happens when going somewhere new and foreign to
them and this is what makes the learning experience of it so memorable. It also is the fact that
when you do accomplish learning the new language and getting around in a new place you are
visiting, it feels rewarding, you have learned to adapt to a new place and it is not so much of a
challenge to get around anymore, to order a meal, introduce yourself to new people and that right
there is an amazing feeling when you realize you have managed to do this.
