1 Preface
In fact of discontinued components for the D900 and D920 there is a direct need for
product replacement recommendations.
This is the reason for this product recommendation document.

The recommended Schneider Electric products for replacing the Berger Lahr / SIG
Positec D900 and D920 is the Schneider Electric SD315 or SD326.

When using an SD3xx product to replace a D900 or D20 the mechanical design
differences must be considered.
The SD3xx product dimensions or “footprint” are quite different than that of the D9xx
products.
The current mounting location of your D9xx product may not accommodate the
SD3xx product so the mounting location must be considered.

Please see the product dimensions section of this document for detailed information
on the product dimension differences.

Functionally the SD3xx product will not directly replace the D9xx product in all istalled
applications.

Both products are 3 phase stepping motor drives used in conjunction with Schneider
Electric (Berger Lahr) 3 phase stepping motors.

The SD3xx product features the latest in design technologies and will provide years
of trouble free service.

Robust and durable, the SD3xx product offering is the best choice for replacing the
D9xx products.

1.1 D900 overview

There are two main product variants within the D 900 product family and different
customer specific variants.
The main difference to other stepper drives is the power supply of 80 > 130V which
results the need motors with “N” windings. This is very importend to know in fact of
finding the right replacement offer.

● Single Eurocard format, 100 x 160 x 51 mm

● Power supply voltage range / motor current
80 VDC to 140 VDC
1.35 A to 5.5 A
● Motor range
BRS 36x and 39x (LN winding)
● Step resolution
200;400;500;1000;
2000;4000;5000;10000 steps/rotation
selectable and adjustable via DIP switch
● Max. Stepping frequency 200 kHz
● Max. motor cable length 50 m
● 5V or 24V signal inputs: Pulse, direction, gate, zero current, micro-
step,opto-isolated, polarity reversal protection, Output ready

There are two main types of D900 products.

The D900.50 D 24V is a 1 axis 5,5 amp stepping motor drive card with 24V
Puls/Direction interface designed to be used in conjunction with Schneider Electric
(Berger Lahr) 3 phase BRS3 series stepper motors with “N” winding rated for up to 5
amps.

The D900.51 D 5V is a 1 axis 5,5 amp stepping motor drive card with 5V
Puls/Direction interface designed to be used in conjunction with Schneider Electric
(Berger Lahr) 3 phase BRS3 series stepper motors with “N” winding rated for up to 5
amps.

2 D920 overview
