beneficial to the health and well being of the students.
2. The role of Physical Education teacher is very important during and after pandemic. The teacher will
carry the responsibility of students well being on their shoulders.
3. Physical Education teacher should look after stressed student and citizens.
4. In order to improve health and immunity, guidance from Physical Education teachers will be needed
and to connect with the masses.
5. Physical education teachers should use all social media platforms, online medium, and modular.

Expect to learn:

1. The skills acquired prepare the body, mind and spirit for positive behavioural functioning. (Physically,
mental, emotional, social and spiritual.)
2. The continuous engagement in the skill acquisition will enhance the development of motor skills and the
sports skills of the PE student for farther participation in practice and performances.

Lesson 1. Sports Physiology & Sports Psychology:

An Overview
A. Learning Outcomes:
Sports Physiology
1. Define Sports Physiology.

Sport physiology is the study of how exercise alters the function and
2.
structure of the body. A sports physiologist seeks to understand the
physiological demands of a sporting performance, which inform what
characteristics an athlete should have to be successful competing at the
highest level.

Drugs
Physiological factors that affect the fate of drugs in the body
and thereby affects on their pharmacology and toxicology
involve the systems that control
absorption,distribution,metabolism and excretion .The main
factors are disease,genetics,and age,nutritional
status,sex,hormonal status( e.g.. the effects of pregnancy)and
circadian rhythm have important influences.Maternal toxicity
will affect the fetus. The absorption and excretion of drugs are
frequently reduced by disease.

Flexibility
Stretching your body to become more supple and flexible
offers many physical benefits. Such training allows for easier
and deeper movements while building strength and stability.
Stretching your muscles and joints also leads to greater range
of motion, improved balance, and increased flexibility.

Gender Females of all ages are less active than their male peers. Two
new studies reveal the gender difference in activity levels
among school children and the over 70s. Both studies show
males to be more physically active than females. Females of
all ages are less active than their male peers.

High heat and humidity lead to two problems in the exercising

body: increased core body temperature and 2) dehydration.
Heat
Increased body temperature (hyperthermia) leads to
decreased muscle endurance,
which means the muscle's ability to contract repeatedly or in a
sustained manner over long periods of time.
Heredity influences several factors that contribute to fitness,
Heredity such as body size and muscle fiber composition. Whether
we are tall or short is determined by heredity. The percentage
of slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle fibers found in skeletal
muscle is determined genetically.

Muscular fitness Increase your ability to do activities like opening doors, lifting
boxes or chopping wood without getting tired. Reduce the risk
of injury. Help you keep a healthy body weight. Lead to
healthier, stronger muscles and bones.

Taking part in sports is a great way to burn away all the extra
Physique weight and get the ideal body shape.however, their effect on
athletic performance is unclear.to examine the effects of a
moderate dose.Temporary loss of a balance even for a short
duration has a critical effect on a record.

Sports Psychology
1. Define Sports and exercise Psychology

Definition
Sport and Exercise Psychology is the study of psychological and mental
factors that influence, and are influenced by, participation in sport, exercise
and physical activity, and the application of this knowledge to everyday
settings.

2. Distinction between Exercise and Sport Psychology

Distinction
An exercise psychologist uses programs that have
Exercise Psychology therapeutic benefits that help to enhance the overall
health of those they work with, whereas a sport
psychologist will use exercise to enhance performance
levels within a particular sport.

Sports Psychology
Sport psychology exercises work on both the body and
mind in tandem. Goal setting is used as key motivation
tools in sport psychology. A sport psychologist typically
helps others to deal with psychological demands.

3. Psychological factors improve sports performance.

Explain

confidence in your ability to successfully complete a

task is an essential condition for victory.
Self-confidence

Motivation
is important for any area you want to optimize your
performance in. It is especially important in sports.
Think about athletes who experience constant ups-and-
downs, wins and losses. In their case, intrinsic
motivation and love for what they do is usually what
helps them recover after a bad pass, a terrible throw, or
a much lower score than they were expecting
Emotional control Doing mental training exercises that help you control
your emotions and doubts can make the difference
between success and failure. When poor emotional
control affects an athlete’s performance, it is usually
because she let her emotions affect her concentration.

Concentration Athletes also need to have the ability to concentrate

intensely. All actions, even the most simple or intuitive
ones, require concentration. A poorly executed move
can result in a loss or an injury. It can ruin months of
preparation. That’s why even an athlete with mediocre
training is not usually distracted.

4. Psychological factors Affecting Performance.

Define and give short explanation

Anxiety Anxiety is fear about one's ability to perform a specific

task. People experiencing performance anxiety may worry
about failing a task before it has even begun. They might
believe failure will result in humiliation or rejection..

a relaxation technique is any method, procedure,

relaxation or activity that helps reduce physical and/or mental
tension. It is meant to lower stress and anxiety and
replace them with peace.

Arousal

Arousal enhances memory for high priority

information, reduces memory for low-priority information.
Mara Mather's research focuses on how emotion and
stress affect memory and decisions and how such
influences differ depenlding on one's age and gender.

Attention both internal and external attention. Internal attention is

when an athlete focuses on things happening in her own
body (thoughts, internal dialogue, feelings, and
movements). External attention is when an athlete
focuses on things outside of her own body.

Athletes also need to have the ability to concentrate

Concentration intensely. All actions, even the most simple or intuitive
ones, require concentration. A poorly executed move
can result in a loss or an injury. It can ruin months of
preparation. That’s why even an athlete with mediocre
training is not usually distracted.

Emotional
mental training exercises that help you control your
emotions and doubts can make the difference between
success and Doing a failure. When poor emotional
control affects an athlete’s performance, it is usually
because she let her emotions affect her concentration.

Aggression is defined as threats or harmful actions

Aggression directed toward another individual and can include threat
displays, lunging, growling, snarling snapping and biting

DANILO E. EDWARDO
Instructor

Goal Setting
this helps athletes get an overall vision of
the work they have to do. They can also
visualize what they have to achieve to get
to their final goals…

mental practice are symbolic ways of

Mental Practiceas reproducing reality. Visualization is
extremely powerful for athletes and non-
athlathe.

Motivation/self-Instruction
Motivation to engage in a given behavior can
internal and/or external factors. There are
multiple theories have beerward regarding
motivation—biolally gillay oriented theories
that say the need to maintain bodily
homeostasis motivates behavior, Bandura’s
idea that ur sense of self-efficacy motivates
behavior, and otherss that focus on social
aspects of motivation..

Personality defines as the characteristic sets

of behavior ,cognition and emotional patterns
Personality
that evolve from biological and environment
factors.while there is no generally agreed
upon definition of personality.most theories
focus on motivation and psychological
interactions with ones”s environment..

Transfer of Learning the factors that influence the transfer of

training are 1) the trainees' characteristics,
such as cognitive ability and motivation to
learn; 2) the training design, such as training
content and instructional method; and 3) the
work environment, such as supervisory and
peer support, and organizational

Feedback Feedback occurs when outputs of a system

are routed back as inputs as a part of a chain
of cause_and effect that form a circuit or
loop.the system can then be said to feedback
into itself.
