1946 Television Technology Progressed.Television

1947 Fifra:-The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and
Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) is a United States federal
law that set up the basic U.S. system of pesticide
regulation to protect applicators, consumers, and
the environment.
1948 IUCN (International Union for Conservation of
Nature) was established on 5 October 1948 in the
French town of Fontainebleau.
1949 Geneva Convention:-This Convention represents
the fourth updated version of the Geneva
Convention on the wounded and sick following
those adopted in 1864, 1906 and 1929. It contains
64 articles.
1950 World Population reached 2.5 Billion

1951 The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global


environmental organization headquartered in
Arlington, Virginia.
1952 The Great Smog of London, or Great Smog of 1952,
was a severe air pollution event that affected
London, England, in December 1952.
1953 The 1953 North Sea flood (Dutch:
Watersnoodramp) was a major flood caused by a
heavy storm surge that struck the Netherlands.
1954 The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) was
founded by Homi Jehangir Bhabha as the Atomic
Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET) in January
1954
1955 The polio vaccine developed by Dr. Salk and
colleagues was licensed in the U.S. Before the polio
vaccine, the disease had been a major cause of
disability in children.
1956 The 1956 Industrial Policy Resolution gave primacy
to the role of the State to assume a predominant
and direct responsibility for industrial
development.
1957 The Space Age is a period encompassing the
activities related to the Space Race, space
exploration, space technology, and the cultural
developments influenced by these events,
beginning with the launch of Sputnik 1.
1958 The General Assembly adopted resolution 1105 (XI)
of 21 February 1957, by which it decided to
convene the United Nations Conference on the Law
of the Sea in Geneva from 24 February to 27 April of
1958.
