- Psychophysics is important to the development of psychology is


because
psychophysics had an important immediate impact on psychology it provided a
means of
measuring sensation which previously , like all other aspects of the mind, had
been
considered private and immeasurable and It introduced methods for measuring
the
relationship between physical stimuli and human perception that would serve as
the basis
for the new science of psychology

2. How have psychologists participated in the advancement of social issues?

-Psychologists participated in the advancement of social issues by


establishing a scientific basis to combat long held social stigmas.

3. Name some ways in which psychology began to be applied to the general public
and
everyday problems.

- Psychology began to be applied to the general public via advertising or


campaigns about mental health issues, providing information on topics such as
stress management, anxiety reduction, and relationship skills.
-In everyday problems psychology begins to be applied when we feel stress,
sad or feeling down and handle it properly.

4. Describe functionalism and structuralism and their influences on behaviorism and


cognitive psychology.

-Functionalism is the study of what the mind does against structuralism,


which is the
study of the contents of the mind. And behaviorism is the study of observed
behavior and
cognitive psychology focuses on the processes of the mind.
