Read these instructions carefully before you attempt to answer the questions.

1. This paper consists of two sections: Section A and Section B.

Section A consists of four letter topics.


Section B consists of four composition topics.

Answer one question only, either from Section A or Section B. Each


question is worth 20 marks.

2. You have 60 minutes for writing and 10 minutes for reading. Writing may
begin during the reading time.

3. Write your letter or composition on the pages provided.

4. Ensure that your handwriting is clear.

5. If you have to erase, do so cleanly.

6. Look over your work when you have finished.

SECTION A

In about 120-200 words, write a letter based on the information below.

1. There is an increase in the amount of garbage on the road side and drains in your
community. Write a letter to the Regional Chairman//Mayor/Toshao asking him/her to
remove the garbage. In your letter, state three ways the removal of garbage will
benefit your community.

2. World Literacy Day is approaching. You want to start a reading club in your school.
Write a letter to your headteacher stating three ways this club will be beneficial to the
students.

OR

3. Your friend Tom scored low grades in his end of term examination. You would like to
help him improve his grades. Write a letter inviting him to be part of your study
group. In your letter, explain three ways studying in the group can be beneficial to
Tom.

OR

4. Your class was invited to visit the Iwokrama Rainforest but does not have enough
money to pay for the trip. Write a letter to your class teacher suggesting three ways
how funds can be raised for this visit.
