What is Home Management?

Home management refers to the running of one's home. This involves tasks like:

cleaning, cooking, dishwashing, laundry and shopping for items needed in the home.

Traditionally, these tasks were predominately done by women, but since the 1960s, men

have gradually been taking more responsibility for home management.

Steps in Management

There are Steps in management:

1. Planning

This refers to thinking and knowing what to do and how to do it. This involves

goals or purposes that need to be accomplished. Usually, in planning, there is a

leader whom the members are willing to follow.

2. Executing

This refers to carrying out or putting the plans into action. This requires

scheduling and the help of talented and skillful persons.

3. Evaluating

This refers to finding out whether the achieved results satisfy the objectives.

Personal Goals

Identifying and establishing personal goals provides the foundation for strategic

planning. Personal goals are broadened into family goals which lead to business goals

and provide input into the strategic planning process.

Everyone involved in the operation of the farm business should identify their

individual goals. Personal goals may focus on accomplishments that provide

happiness and fulfillment for you or someone you care about.

Below are typical personal goals:

To maintain good health.

To have a trusted circle of friends.

To be financially secure.

To be involved and active in a religious life.

To have and rear responsible, productive, and happy children.

To be part of a loving extended family.

Family Goals

Family goals focus on achieving accomplishments agreed upon by the family. The

family individuals need to work as a team to collectively identify and establish goals for

the family unit.

Below are typical family goals:

To provide financial resources to achieve each member's personal goals.

To maintain good health for all family members.

To maintain a home of which you are all proud.

To have a son or daughter join the family business.

To enjoy leisure time as a family.

To encourage the highest level of education desirable for each family member.

To generate adequate finances to support and educate your family.

To rear responsible, productive, and happy children.

To be involved and active in a religious life.

To maintain open and productive family communications.

How can we be of help?

 Simplify your needs. Do not buy unnecessary. Choose a simple way of

living.

 Serve simple but nutritious meals. Opt for natural foods, fruits ,vegetables.

 Prepare a list of very important things to buy when you go out for shopping

so that you will not be tempted to buy unnecessary.

 Relax and spend leisure time without spending too much.

 Whenever possible, use public transport or carpool to save fuel.

How precious is time?

As the saying goes, “Time is Gold”. Time is indeed precious, therefore, we must

use it wisely. It allows us to do things that matter to us, such as learning, working,

creating, enjoying, and helping others. Time is also precious because it is finite and

irreversible. We cannot get back the time we have lost or wasted, nor can we predict

how much time we have left.
