I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
A. determine the tone and mood based on a given passage through KEY
method;
B. value the importance of determining the tone and mood in understanding the
theme of a poetry; and
C. write the mood and tone of the given poem through graphic organizer.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Identifying Tone and Mood of a Poetry
Reference: Increasing Fluency with High Frequency Word Phrases
Materials: Marker, Laptop

B. Review/ Motivation (I GOT A FEELING)
- The teacher will randomly choose a student
- The student/s will pick certain emotion in a box and will read a famous line
from the Philippines movies/television shows presented in the PowerPoint with the tone
of the said emotion

A. Activities
1. The teacher will present an introductory video about the lesson
2. The teacher will further elaborate the difference between tone and mood.
B. Analysis
1. The teacher will ask the students the following questions below:
• What is the difference tone and mood?
• What is the importance of identifying tone and mood of a
poetry?
C. Abstraction
Tone is the attitude of the author towards a subject. It mainly created by diction
and detail.
V. Assignment/ Homework
Study in advance about “Active and Passive Voice.”
