My Reflection Paper: The McCormick Harvesting Machine Company

The story of Cyrus Hall McCormick and how he built his own McCormick Harvesting
Machine Company is truly inspiring. Although fate has not been very kind to him, he still
found a way to overcome these trials and challenges and become a true example of a
great inventor and innovator. There were many obstacles on his way to success, his
family went bankrupt, his patent expired, and his competitors and imitators increased at
that time. But this did not stop him from just giving up, instead, he continued to find
another way to market and use his invention and these are the harvesting machines
that factories and farmers can use to harvest wheat. Indeed, the invention of Cyrus Hall
McCormick was of great help not only to the industry but also to the farmers because
their jobs became easier and faster.

I learned a lot from McCormick's story. First, we should not give up no matter what
difficulties come our way because just like McCormick did there are many ways to
overcome them, giving up is not a solution to our problems. Sometimes life will really

start and for whom are we fighting? these questions will remind us of our origins and
humble beginnings and these are the questions that will strengthen our faith and
courage to fight and continue at times when we are weak and about to give up. Second,
as a future entrepreneur, I learned that the true essence of being an entrepreneur is to
help others, such as helping by inventing something that the world needs, helping by
introducing something that the community needs, and helping by making people's lives
easier because I believe that an entrepreneur is also an inventor. Lastly, as a future and
aspiring entrepreneur, let's not be afraid to fight for our right to our own work and ideas.
Just like McCormick did, he fought for his right to get a patent for his invention because
it was his idea and he created it. Let's not allow others to steal it from us because it is
ours and we should have the credit and right to it.

I just found out that the inventor of the first practical sewing machine was Isaac Singer
in 1851. We all know how important the sewing machine is because It makes it easier
and simpler to sew and create garments and fabric. Isaac Singer's invention which is
the sewing machine helped a lot especially for mothers who love to sew and those who
work in sewing companies because they no longer need to use their fingers and hands
just to sew, with the help of sewing machines it is easier to sew clothes and fabrics than
before. Our world has changed a lot since the invention of the sewing machine because
the textile and fashion industry has grown and flourished since then. The sewing
machine also helped in changing trends because every decade there are new fashion
styles and trends. So I think one of the factors why the fashion industry grew is because
of the sewing machine invented by Isaac Singer.
