Title: Ideology
1) Explain and discuss the concept of modernism and give some
appropriate examples.
• Modernism is a broad cultural, artistic, and philosophical movement that
emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is characterized by a
deliberate rejection of traditional forms and the embrace of innovation and
experimentation. Modernism often focuses on the representation of the modern
world and the experience of modern life.

• Example: Technology -> The emphasis on progress and innovation in technology,

like smartphones and computers, reflects the Modernist pursuit of newness and
efficiency.
2) Explain and discuss the concept of postmodernism and give
some appropriate examples.
• Emerging in the mid-to-late 20th century, postmodernism is a reaction against
the perceived rigidity and ideology of Modernism. It is characterized by
skepticism towards grand narratives and ideologies, an inclination towards
selfreferentiality, irony, and eclecticism. Postmodernism often challenges notions
of objective truth and embraces the idea of multiple realities.

• Example: Fashion -> Mixing of styles from different eras or cultures in an eclectic
fashion choice, like wearing vintage clothing with modern pieces.

3) Explain and discuss the concept of relativism and give some

appropriate examples.
• Relativism is the philosophical concept that points of view have no absolute truth
or validity, having only relative, subjective value according to differences in
perception and consideration. In essence, it suggests that different people can
view the same situation in different ways, and all perspectives are equally valid.

• Example: Cultural Relativism -> Enjoying and respecting a variety of cuisines from
different cultures without judging them by one's own food standards.
