I am Aminat Tosin Alege by name, I am currently a teacher teaching English
Language and Accounting at Laro Grammar School, Osogbo, Osun State of Nigeria.
I intend to study Criminal Justice at Bachelor level at the prestigious
University of Bridgeport, careers based around criminology play an essential part in everyday society, both protecting and stabilizing communities and all who reside in them, and over the past few years it has become apparent to me that this is a subject I find both intriguing and compelling.
I picked an interest in Criminal Justice and crime prevention during my
teaching career in an high school and I set out to make my career goal to become a Criminal Justice professional. Hence, my basic reason for my decision to pursue a Criminal Justice Bachelor’s degree and this has been a part of my plans for the future and will become one of my core focuses that I will set up in, even in my graduate studies. This will also enable me to become a more competent working professional and encourage me to advance towards the doctoral program. As I said earlier, my passion for Criminal Studies started back to when I am still teaching in the high school. One of my student, a low class individual was unfortunately assaulted by a juvenile criminal one hot afternoon, he was mercilessly beaten and put behind the bar despite the fact that he was the one that was assaulted just because the parents of his fighter was rich and famous. We (teachers) rally round to secure his freedom. He was later released and transferred to the nearest hospital for urgent medical attention; however he died shortly after from his injuries due to a major loss of blood. It was my first major experience that boosts my interest in Criminal Justice and from then on I have it in mind to pursue the course.
During my undergraduate Criminal Justice studies, I will endeavored to further
my knowledge and understanding up to the more advanced levels and achieved an outstanding result. As I will started my CJ studies in 2024, I hope to became preoccupied by the systematic trainings that I received in the criminological theories, crime correction, and the relevant laws. I will be keen to study for this particular program because I understood how this knowledge can be utilized to reduce and prevent crime to benefit the lower classes of different communities. These experiences will help me to build up a solid foundation to carry out higher-level research in the Masters and PhD levels.
My intention is to finish my studies and come back to Nigeria in order to use my
already earned knowledge to help the poor as an human rights advocate, The oppression is too much in the land.
I will be very glad if my application for admission is favourably considered.
