Statement of Purpose

I am Muhammad Afzal son of Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif. I was born on April 03, 1979
in Gujrat, Pakistan. I am a strong believer of this quote of Albert Einstein that “Wisdom is not a
product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it” and this is what motivates me to
endeavor new prospects of personal and professional growth. The career which I have chosen
entails “thinking allowed and thinking aloud.” To be successful in this, first of all, a person should
be an active, sensitive participant of social life and demonstrate independent and critical insights.
Apart from such qualities as courage, social conscience, objectivity, enthusiasm and discretion, a
person must have deep concerns for the destiny of his/her nation and the welfare of its people.

I never cherish any blind faith in the accepted theories and teachings but instead have endeavored
to cultivate a proper attitude toward what I am exposed to. In my notebooks are recorded not only
what my teachers have taught me but also my personal contemplations and critical views. On
many important issues I have the habit of discussing with the most learned and inspiring teachers
from whom to seek enlightenment and to probe into the essence of the matter through different
ideas.

Education related to Law has always fascinated me. In my university, Bachelor in Law has taught
me innumerable things but I still feel that there are countless things which I need to learn. This is
one of the major reasons I am looking forward to go to UK to get the degree of LLM. I remained
an exceptionally brilliant student throughout my entire educational period.

It was my passion to get good education from abroad. I completed my Secondary School
Certificate under Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Gujranwala, in 1995 from
Govt. Muslim High School, Gujrat. After that I completed my Higher Secondary School
Certificate under the same board and institute in 1998. After that I did my BA from University
of the Punjab in 2000. Then, I completed my LLB from University of the Punjab in year the
2004 with Second Division. Besides all this I have a lot of interest in extracurricular activities as
well.
I have chosen to study LLM at the University of Hertfordshire and continue with my subject of
interest. I have a keen interest in this field from the start as my personality traits provide
consonance with the career demands through the trajectory of selected program. I did my own
research as well through social media and website information. The university also has good
employability rate. Going through the information I have discerned that this University is
providing me the ideal course and the topics in the course cover all major areas through its
education.

The degree LLM will lift me as an individual and heighten my stature at social standing. It will
make me stand out of the crowd. With this degree I will be having an edge of methodical and
systematic skills. This program will lift me as an individual with personal integrity, theoretical
knowledge, professional presentational skills, and mainly professionalism itself.
Keeping all informative points in my mind I decided to pursue my career in Law studies. In
Pakistan scope of Law is wide and lawyers are widely needed and appreciated all over the world.
Pakistan is developing country and many opportunities are coming in the future for lawyers of
every kind. I am really interested in turning dreams into realities. I am self-assured that the course
which I have selected will turn out to be very productive for me both in my educational as well as
my professional career. After the successful completion of my degree from University of
Hertfordshire, I will return back to Pakistan and I will work in my country as a Lawyer. Pakistan
is a huge country and day by day it is progressing and moving towards a developing stage and
employment opportunities are increasing day by day. Organizations prefer to hire foreign
graduates because they have an advantage of diversified trainings. Graduates will be having
enhanced job opportunities within organizations which are looking for lawyers having modern
skills of Problem Solving. After searching various job portals like rozeee.pk, indeed.com,
mustakbil.com, I reached to a conclusion that after getting a UK degree I would be able to get the
job as a lawyer in major and influential organizations with a handsome salary package of around
3 lac PKR to 4 lac PKR per month. This all will enable me to work for the betterment of our
coming generations by putting into practice the theory. I believe that after fetching a degree in
LLM from UK, I would be able to contribute immensely towards my nation.
