= Righteous Anger/Indignation

1. God himself expresses righteous anger against sin.

Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:

witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,


dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.
I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God.

Proverbs 29:22 An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-


tempered one commits many sins.

2. No option-anger has to be removed.


Colossians 3:8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things
as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your
lips.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,


brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ
God forgave you.

3. Anger is loss of control.

Proverbs 29: 11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man
keeps himself under control.

Jonah 4:4, 9 But the LoRD replied, "Have you any right to be
angry?". . . But God said to Jonah, "Do you have a right to be angry
about the vine?" "I do," he said. "I am angry enough to die."

4. Avoiding anger requires proceeding slowly,not reacting.


Proverbs 14:17 A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and
a crafty man is hated.
Proverbs 20:3 It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool
is quick to quarrel.

5. Listen more, talk less, slow down anger.


James 1:19-20 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone
should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God
desires. ;J

Responding to anger

1. The practice of answering gendywiIl for the most part reduce the
chance of anger.
:J Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh
word stirs up anger.

:= 2. Do not respond to anger with anger.


Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room
for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"
= says the Lord.
Proverbs 20:22 Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong!"
Wait for the LORD, and he will deliver you.

3. If anger is expressed it must be taken care of that day between indi-
viduals and God, or at the very least a conscious plan must be made
:I that day for resolution.
