The tiles were lightly dusted and cleaned with a damp sponge and non-abrasive cleaner using an abrasion tester. After 100 cleaning cycles, the stain was partially removed and visible for a rating of 3 based on the ASTM scale. An annex to the report shows a tile before and after washing.

    D4828

    Dear Mr. Plotzner:

    We have completed the washability testing of your OWAcoustic Scrim Laminated Mineral Tile
    ceiling tiles per ASTM D4828, Practical Washability of Organic Coatings. Tiles were lightly
    dusted with a carbon black pigment to simulate household dirt. They were cleaned with a
    damp sponge and non-abrasive cleaner using a linear abrasion tester. After 100 cycles, the
    stain/dirt was partially removed leaving the stained area readily visible for a rating of 3 as per
    the method (see below). Annex 1 shows a stained tile before and after washing.

    ASTM D4828 Stain Removal Ratings:


    10 All soil and stain removed
    7 Large change from original, barely visible
    5 Moderate change from original, slightly visible
    3 Slight change from original, but readily visible
    0 No change from original intensity (depth) of soil or stain
