CONSTRUCTION OF SUBSOIL DRAIN

1.0 PURPOSE

This procedure defines and establishes the method statement for subsoil drain construction.

2.0 SCOPE

To provide clear instruction for construction of sub-soil drain.

4.0 DEFINITION

5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

5.1 Project Manager

 Ensure that method statement comply with client requirement;

 Submit method statement to client / consultant for approval;
 Monitor implementation of this method statemant and ensure the works are carried out
with accordance of specification;
 Co-ordination of testing with consultant (if required);

5.3 Surveyor

 Responsible for setting out of works;

 Ensuring survey equipment is calibrated;

6.0 MATERIAL TO BE USED

 Porous pipe or Perforated PVC Pipe;

 Filter Material (sand or aggregate);
 Geotextile (Terram T-1000 or equivalent);
 Tie – Wire (if required)

7.0 EQUIPMENT TO BE USED

- Backhoe

8.0 SAFETY CONDITIONS

Refer to Safety Booklet.

9.0 ACTIVITY PROCESS

9.1 Excavation trench to required depth and width;

9.2 Joint survey level and gradient;
9.3 Lay Terram;
9.4 Fill material to the required thickness for base;
9.5 Lay porous pipe in the trench;
9.6 Lay filter material as per drawing;
9.7 Wrap terram around permeable material;
9.8 Fill suitable material;
