6.0 MATERIALS

6.1 The approved Prime Coat ( SS1-K ).

6.2 Approval prime coat from plant shall deliverd to site .
6.3 Material shall conform with JKR specification.

7.0 EQUIPMENT’S

7.1 Power Broom;

7.2 Compressed Air Blower;
7.3 Pressure Distributor for Bituminous Material;
7.4 Vibrating Compactor;

8.0 SAFETY CONDITION

Refer to Safety Booklet

9.0 ACTIVITY PROCESS

9.1 Method of working for subbase preparation.

9.1.1 Work shall commence on site upon approval and acceptance of the
roadbase.

9.1.2 The subbase shall be leveled and compacted by using vibratory roller
after compaction of any specified roadbase in pavement area.

9.1.3 Verification of the roadbase compaction shall be carried out using sand
replacement method or other method deemed suitable by the engineer.

9.2 Constructional Operation

9.2.1 Works shall commence on site upon approval and acceptance of the
roadbase layer.

9.2.2 The surface to receive the Prime Coat (SS1-K) shall be free from all
loose material and standing water.

9.2.3 The approval Prime Coat (SS1-K) will be sprayed by Bitumen Emulsion
self-propelled.

9.2.4 The rate for spreading the Prime Coat shall be 0.8 to1.2 liters/m²

9.3 Field Control

9.3.1 These shall be carried out assess and determine the rate of spread.

9.3.2 A tray will be put at middle of the area to be sprayed.

9.3.3 A tray will be weighed and measured before spraying.

9.3.4 After spraying the weight of the tray and the prime coat will be
determined.

9.3.5 Hence the rate of the spread will be determine as follows :-

( Prime coat + tray ) – ( tray )

Rate of spread = --------------------------------------------------
Density of prime coat x area of tray

9.4 Constructional Plan

One (1) unit of Bitumen Emulsion Self -Propelled Hand Operated Distrubutor.
