Project Writing: Final Year Project Research

Year 2023

A study conducted by Kassim et al. (2020) centered on the creation of an intelligent ablution tap
designed for mosques, with the goal of enhancing hygiene and conserving water. The water is
automatically turned on when the researchers employ sensors to identify the presence of hands.
In order to encourage users to be conscious of their water usage, the device also had a display
that indicated the volume of water used and the length of the ablution. Azmi et al. (2019) created
a smart ablution faucet that was coupled with a mobile application in another investigation.
Users could adjust the water's temperature and flow rate with this technology. The app also
served as a reminder for when the next prayer time was and how important it is to ablution.

3.0 METHODOLOGY
In order to create a smart faucet for ablution that minimizes water waste, you must first gather
customer requirements and undertake in-depth market research. Create thoughts and design
guidelines for the faucet while taking usability and water-saving technologies into account. As
you ensure sustainability and regulatory compliance, prototype and test the faucet's operation,
incorporating sensors and water-saving features. As you work on developing a user-friendly
interface and seamless experience, test the faucet in a pilot program to gauge its effectiveness and
gather input from users. Lastly, make arrangements for large-scale manufacturing and
distribution while offering instructional resources to increase public knowledge of the
advantages of water conservation.
This project has been completed according to design process shown in Figure 1.
