Design and Development of Smart Faucet To Reduce Water Wastage
Design and Development of Smart Faucet To Reduce Water Wastage
Year 2023
ABSTRACT:
Water conservation and scarcity are global issues, and it's becoming more and more crucial to cut
down on water waste. The goal of the ablution faucet design presented in this abstract is to use as
little water as possible when performing religious rites. The faucet optimizes water flow by using
sensor technologies and control algorithms, only dispenses water when needed. In addition, it
lets users alter the water flow and volume according to usage trends. In tests, water consumption
was 40% less than with traditional faucets, and user satisfaction was quite high. This clever smart
faucet encourages responsible water use by providing a workable and long-lasting solution to
water waste during ablution rituals.
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In order to solve issues with water usage, hygiene, and user experience, the project focuses on
creating a smart faucet for ablution, a rite in Islam (Islamic Education and Research Academy,
2016). In addition to saving water, the smart faucet uses sensor technology to offer a touchless,
clean ablution experience. According to Mohamad et al. (2018), designing a smart tap for
ablution in Malaysia is a workable approach that can help reduce water wastage and improve
ablution quality. In order to create an ecologically friendly restroom, the study strives to satisfy
user needs, environmental considerations, and technological criteria. In general, it is anticipated
that the smart faucet will provide a workable and environmentally friendly solution,
encouraging energy and water conservation while enhancing user experience. Among the
objectives of this project are: -
(i) To design a smart faucet that reduce water wastage while ablution;
(ii) Make a design that low costing; and
(iii) Design an ergonomic project model.
The efficiency of sensor-based faucets in cutting down on water usage would also be covered, as
would the possibilities for smart faucet designs that include automatic temperature and flow
control. In addition, user opinions and experiences with smart faucet use in restrooms would be
covered by the review. Water conservation in public and religious facilities would eventually
result from the integration of these insights into the literature evaluation, which would then help
to inform the construction of an efficient smart faucet for ablution purposes.
