3.2 Identification methods for escalator
3.2.1 Principle of identification
3.2.1.1 Every component has its exclusive position to be installed in and subsequently
get each of them fixed tightly.
3.2.1.2 The surfaces of the component and the packaging material for each
component shall be explicitly labeled respectively as exclusive identification which

means two labels on both internal and external surfaces shall be consistent with one
another.
3.2.1.3 Differentiation of left from right structural components: standing at the

downside of the escalator and then look upwards, if the left hand side is just at left
side and the right hand side is at right side.
3.2.2 Method of identification
3.2.2.1 The whole escalator：

3.2.2.2 N = (1, 2, 3….) Getting each of them numbered by Contract Numbers
1#, 2#, 3#….. The whole escalator
3.2.2.3 The split escalator can be classified from upside to downside: N# (Upside),
N# (Middle) (the middle section is unavailable for the whole escalator which is split
into two sections.), N# (Downside). “Upside”, “Middle”, “Downside” separately
stand for the position of each of the split sections of the whole escalator; the whole
escalator that is split into three sections can be classified into upside, middle and
downside; the whole escalator that is split into two sections can be classified into
upside and downside; the non-split escalator can not be classified like that.

NB：the middle section in the escalator split into 3 sections is not only labeled with
N# (middle), but also the other two sections is labeled with
N#(upside) ， N#(downside) respectively, which means these two labeled sections
shall be connected with the middle section, to protect the middle section of the whole
escalator from reverse connection to the upside and downside sections of the whole.
The installation of the whole escalator shall be started only when the upside and
downside sections of the whole have been labeled separately.
3.2.2.4 Junction plate at the split section shall also be labeled with the rules of N#～n.
In addition, the same label shall be applied to the place where the split truss is

connected with the junction plate. Only after these labels on the junction plate have
been the same as one another can the installation be carried out.
3.2.2.5 There is no need to figure out which side is left, right, upside or downside for
the components concerned and instead of getting them identified straightforward with
the label, e.g. (1#) TP.5.1 stands for group of pulleys which can not be classified into
left and right or upside and downside.
3.2.2.6 Standard components and small parts shall be placed into self-sealed plastic
bag for the purpose of installing an escalator later on; after that, getting the bag
labeled with the code name of the components and parts, along with the details of

which components or parts shall be employed for which parts of the escalator on site,
as well as, which components or parts shall be labeled in case of need, e.g. the self-
sealed plastic bag is labeled with (1#) TP.7A-6 standard components (for internal
cover plate in scope of application), as well as, bolt M4×8 （ manufactured by
stainless steel and in conformance with GB819-85 ） , which means the standard
components in the bag are employed for (1#) TP.7A-6 (internal cover plate in scope
of application), and others likewise.
3.2.2.7 The components required to be differentiated from one another with left and
right or upside and downside, shall be labeled with the escalator number plus left and
right (or upside and downside), e.g. R handrail balustrade on (1# left) P1.5-2 stands

for that the balustrade shall be used at left upside of the 1# escalator, and others
likewise. The details of these components and parts can be seen in the packing list
provided.
3.2.3.2 Identification method for gripping element for glass balustrade: it shall be
labeled properly at the upside of the disconnected gripping element, e.g. (1# left
upside) TZ.5E-10; the gripping element for the glass balustrade that is fixed to the
truss of the escalator shall also have the corresponding label which is pasted up to the
same end as the disconnected gripping element is. The installation can be carried out
only after the two labels at the upside are consistent with one another and pasted up at
the two opposite ends.

3.2.2.9 Identification for glass balustrade:
The glass balustrade shall be classified into left and right and numbered
with -01，-02，-03…etc. and the form of numbering shall accord with as follow
N# left-n
N# right-n
N stands for escalator number, and n means glass (balustrade) number, and it is
number with -01，-02，-03… and so on starting from bottom to top of the escalator.

NB: this label is regarded as an additional label which is used for auxiliary purpose of
installing the glass balustrade. The glass itself has a label that has already been serial
numbered previously and pasted up in front of the additional label.
