WILL ANSWER THE QUESTION
For you, what is politics?

Do you need to be political?

Is it important to be engaged in politics?

The Political Self is that the
conceptually discrete categories of
‘inner’ and ‘outer’ in reality constantly
interact, shape, and inform each other.
POLITICS AND ITSELF
People are obligated to participate in politics by nature
as social beings and members of society. Politics is the
study of the actions and attitudes required to acquire
and exercise power in a nation or community. It is also
described as the distribution of power inside an
organization and the impact of interpersonal
relationships between coworkers.
According to Aristotle, "Man is, by nature, a political
animal." This is because man is a social entity who is
naturally pulled to various political activities to meet
his social requirements. Man's absorption of politics
entails numerous things:
1. Politics is all about power. Within societies,
power imbalances may be seen. Those in
positions of authority have influence.

2. Politics operates within a specific social, economic,

and cultural framework. The state's culture
influences the character of politics and political
systems. Their geographical location and ideology
influence advocates' political assertions.
3. Politics is both personal and political. Own decisions
reflect one's politics. The two are the same.
4. Politics and society are intricately linked. Politics
encompasses society's structure and consequently
impacts citizens' ideas, ethics, and conduct.

However, one's political self is molded by more than just

one's political ideas or allegiance. One's feeling of
responsibility should be demonstrated through advocating
for specific causes through active political participation.
This corresponds to the idea of active citizenship.
WHO IS A FILIPINO?
Filipinos are often references to globally
renowned personalities like Manny Pacquiao,
Lea Salonga, and Michael Cinco who have made
Filipinos recognized around the world through
their expertise. However, being a Filipino is far
more than just being related to those notable
figures.
ATTRIBUTES OF BEING
A FILIPINO
The Philippines, like every other nation, has its own
set of values and stereotypes. We Filipinos are certain
that our nation possesses the greatest values on the
planet. Even though numerous nations have colonized
us, many of our forefathers' basic beliefs have
survived and are still respected today. Filipinos are not
perfect, but we have certain outstanding features and
qualities that we should all be proud of, such as the
unique Filipino hospitality, brand of respect for elders,
strong family ties, generosity and helpfulness, and love
and caring for one another in times of struggles and
need.
FILIPINO VALUES AND
TRAITS
THE FILIPINO
HOSPITALITY
Welcoming their guests and tourists as if they
are their own brothers and sisters; they always
make their guests feel at home, offering them
something to eat or even a place to stay.
RESPECT FOR
ELDERS
Filipinos greet their elders by kissing their hand
while saying “Mano po!” and constantly using
“po” and “opo” in conversations.
CLOSE FAMILY
TIES
Filipinos maintain a tight relationship with their
families regardless if the children are old
enough and already have families of their own.
SELF-SACRIFICE
Self-sacrificing attitude of Filipinos can be seen
as an extension of the Filipino hospitality.
BAYANIHAN
Bayanihan is the spirit of communal unity and
cooperation of Filipinos. It is also about giving
without expecting something in return.
BAHALA NA
ATTITUDE
Is the Filipino version of the famous line “hakuna
matata” meaning no worries. The phrase is said
to have originated from “bathala na” where
Bathala means God.
COLONIAL
MENTALITY
Is regarded as the lack of patriotism and the attitude
where Filipinos favor foreign products more than their
own. This does not only concern goods, but also the
desire to look more foreign than local and keep up with
foreign beauty trends.
CHEERFUL
PERSONALITY
Filipinos have a habit of smiling and laughing a lot.
Smiling has been a coping strategy for many
Filipinos especially during trying times and
calamities.
MAÑANA
HABIT
It was derived from a longer Filipino phrase
called “Mamaya na” means dawdling things,
which could have been done at an earlier tome.
NINGAS KUGON
Refers to the attitude of eagerly starting thongs but
quickly losing eagerness soon after experiencing
difficulty, just like how fast the fire of a Cogon grass
burns out moments after being ignited.
PRIDE
Most Filipinos hold on their pride as if they are more
precious than keeping a good relationship with family
and loved ones. When two parties are not in good
terms, they find it so hard to apologize and wait until
the other party ask for an apology.
CRAB
MENTALITY
It is the more toxic trait of the Fiipinos, they
ruin each other reputations and pull each
other down.
FILIPINO TIME
Filipinos have this common attitude of arriving
late at commitments, dinner or parties especially
if they are meeting someone close to them.
