Digital reconstruction of French
aircraft Le Latecore-28

Objectives
Motivation: 1. Digital reconstruction of Aircraft:
• Gather historical data from Archives and pictures
• Creating CAD modelling using CATIA V5
• Optimising the CAD model using Blender to get the best out of VR.
2. CAD Conversion & VR integration:
• Identifying the best CAD to VR Conversion method
• Creating VR environment using Unity
• Incorporate CAD model into VR space
• Adding interactive elements in VR, allowing user to explore the aircraft at
a1:1 scale

Workflow Architecture Results:

After extensive research into historical archives, the "Latecore-28" model was developed for Virtual Reality (VR)
integration. This model, tailored for VR, offers an accurate representation of Latecore-28 and ensures optimal
performance in VR settings. Once integrated, the model offers a visually stunning and interactive VR experience. Key
features include teleportation for easy navigation and an aircraft rotation function for detailed examination from various
angles. These interactions enhance the user's understanding and appreciation of Latecore-28's design. Overall, the
model's detailed optimization ensures a smooth, immersive experience free from technological disruptions.
Future work:
The airplane CAD model, integrated into Virtual Reality (VR), offers vast future potential. It can be directly 3D printed
using the .stl format for physical testing and rapid design alterations. Transitioning towards Industry 5.0, which
emphasizes human and intelligent system collaboration, the model's VR capabilities enable immersive design discussions
and real-time decision-making among professionals. Additionally, it can serve as an educational tool for technicians and
pilots, offering a detailed virtual experience without a physical model. In the context of Industry 5.0, the VR model can
interact with other systems for real-time feedback and advanced simulations. In essence, this CAD model bridges the
digital and physical realms, paving the way for innovations in 3D printing and the next-generation paradigms of Industry
5.0.
