PLAN OF INVESTIGATION
My group’s theme is Chinese Cultural Traditions. The topic I would be doing is Traditional
Chinese Cultural Food. I will be matching these foods to the festival that will be discussed by
another group member. The festivals that I will be doing are China National Day, Spring Festival
and Chinese Lunar New Year’s. There are many foods that are incorporated into these holidays.
As I am 2% Chinese through my great grandmother I am interested in my culture. The three
source of information I’ll be using is an article from the internet, a pamphlet from the library
and a magazine.

REFLECTION #1
The title of my piece is Chinese Cultural Traditions, and the genre it falls into is informational
because it explains the known facts about my topic. I previously thought my topic was very
boring and time consuming as I thought I knew what I needed to know about the relationship
between Chinese food and culture. The main idea of this assignment is to show the relationship
between the food and festivals of the Chinese people that reflect their diverse cultural heritage.
In doing this assignment I gained a lot of knowledge on the Chinese traditions and cultural
heritage as it pertains to food of its many ethnic groups. Foods play a very important role for
any celebration that comes around and even what makes it better is that anyone can make any
occasion special with tasty dishes.
