There are number of topics which are extremely interesting.

Basically the
most eyecatching concept was stereotypes based on ethnicity- social
exclusion which I experienced myself hence I was most interested in it.To add
with I witnessed another incident of being a victim of robbery too which was
a life changing event for me.
Criminology is that type of study which basically people can relate to their
day to day life and happenings in their environment so I could relate many
more incidents and victimization to it which made my interest grow deeper
and deeper into this course. To elaborate it personally I too faced ethinicity
stereotypes at my workplace which shattered my confidence to tremendous
level when I was titled as thief as my mexican boss imposed false allegations
on me out of rage. This incident left a very negative impact on my mental
health too and I completely agree that when we experience anything
practically we tend to remember it theoretically too.
Crime prevails in all parts of world and the perspectives and laws to stop it
are highly imposed on public but criminology requires very critical thinking
and keen observation to look into pros and cons of laws.I learned many new
aspects of crime , biological causes of crime and I came across most debating
topic of how social platforms affect criminology and their role in
development of moral panics among public which is a major issue these
days.I too strongly support this motion that media has contributed to
disinformation about crime. I was completely unaware of the challenges for
proving fossil fuel industry criminally responsible for climatic changes in
environment. So I gathered more information from articles to gain deeper
insight into this topic.I felt that these were interesting provoking concepts
which will also help me in my near future too.Penal Populism was
completely different aspect of crime I now know about justice policies and
tough on crime policies. In a Nutshell, through this course I could relate my
personal experiences to this professional science which gave me a wider
perspective of criminology, its causes , its single story, pros and cons and
laws inacted to reinforce in public the importance of reporting crimes and
stopping them. Even I myself got insights into the incidents I witnessed
which I couldn’t speak about being a victim which factors stopped me to
disclose it.As earlier I was victimized to bullying I decided to not inform the
concerned authorities but this course changed my viewpoint of that incident
I could have demanded justice because now I feel being silent victim is itself
a crime and will exaggerate criminality as inculcating fear in victim is their
main strategy. Some issues pertaining decision making process of criminal
justice policy and penal populism which I never knew before are now quite
clear and I do believe that experts should direct it completely instead of
public. To sum up in order to maintain law and order, to understand cause of
crimes victimisation and other policies its extremely important to study
criminology.
