disruptive and represent as big as a paradigm shift as Web 2.0
Third Version of the Internet and is built upon the core concepts of

ensure data security and privacy while avoiding the risk of Internet hacking.
WEB 3.0Defining Features of Web 3.0
Trustless and permissionless: Web 3.0 will also be trustless (i.e., the
network will allow participants to interact directly without going through a
trusted intermediary) and permissionless (meaning that anyone can
participate without authorization from a governing body).
WEB 3.0Defining Features of Web 3.0
Connectivity and ubiquity: With Web 3.0, information and content are
more connected and ubiquitous, accessed by multiple applications
and with an increasing number of everyday devices connected to the
web—an example being the Internet of Things.
To use an analogy from the movies, if Web 1.0 represented the black-
and-white movie era, Web 2.0 would be the age of color/basic 3D,
while Web 3.0 would be immersive experiences in the metaverse.
Have you heard of
Library 2.0?
YES NO
Michael Casey
the coiner
Keys to Remember:
According to Casey (2007) that
any definition of Library 2.0
should include three elements:
coined the term Library
These elements are Library
2.0 in his blog 2.0 as a model of constant
(Miller, 2005) change,
giving library users control
through participatory,
user-driven services and
implementing these to
improve and reach out to
both present and potential
users.
Michael
“It is incorporating technical innovations into basic library service while
maintaining the participatory roles of the librarian”
LIBRARY 3.0 the future?
refers to the use of emerging technologiesto facilitate the development, organization and
sharing of user-generated content through seamless collaboration between users,
experts and librarians (Belling, et. al, 2011)
the end result of Library 3.0 is the expansion of the “borderless library”, where
collections can be made available readily to library users regardless of their
physical location.
Library 3.0 is a virtual complement to the physical library space, and should ideally
work seamlessly within established library systems, services and collections.
LET'S ASK
THEM
S.R. Ranganathan
Basically, the idea of web technologies revolves around these
emerging trends and theories.
Melvil Dewey
Understanding them gives us an idea on how will libraries and information
centers incorporates these changes into a more innovative and a
technologically advance institution.

This is why the idea of Casey (2007) that Library 2.0 should be a model for constant change
is so important to understand and keep in mind. As our technological environment evolves,
so does libraries and information centers in order for us to keep up and get the interest of
our users
White Cat
As librarians or information professionals, we should be able to adapt
to our community because their needs are what we are going afterall
