Valentine’s Day
February holds many fun activities and lots of good learning. Please
be sure to join us for our Valentine’s Day party and mark February 23
on your calendar for our special Black History Event!

COME OUT AND READ BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Our class is hosting a come out and read night!
Students wear pajamas and comfy on big
pillows as they enjoy as they enjoy a good book
with a parent or sibling. We also will have a
special storyteller coming in to share some
exciting stories with the group. Be sure to join
us for the fun!
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN CLASS
We continue to focus on letter recognition and
letter sounds during February. We also are
studying the seasons and reading stories about
winter. These are the stories we will use in
class. Check them out from the library to
reinforce these concepts at home!
February is Black History Month, and students
will learn about the contributions of
inspirational African-Americans. To continue
our focus on reading during February, we will
be using the following books:
The story of Ruby Bridges, by Roberts Coles
Under the Quilt of Night, by Deborah Hopinkson
Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt, by Deborah
Hopinkson
Martin’s Big Words,: The Life of Dr. Martin

The Mitten, by Jan Brett
The Polar Bear, by Hans de Beer
The students will work together and create an
exciting presentation for their families on
