News Week 24

We are continuing our January theme of Winter through February. Yet in addition
to that theme we will have Presidents Day, Love of Reading, Valentines
Day and Rodeo. February is the shortest month of the year but it is also jam
packed with wonderful learning opportunities. We will use these themes to
integrate the curriculum and infuse it with excitement!
Please remember that we will be having Parent Teacher Conferences on Feb. 9 and
10th. Dismissal for our students will be at 10:55am on those days. Please remember
to make any necessary child care arrangements on those two days. I will be calling
each family to finalize a day and time as needed. Thank you so much for your
interest and support of your childs education.
In Reading, we are learning the realistic fiction genre through the play Did You
See Chip?. We will be acting out this play as the children experience another fun
genre. We are also continuing the standards of phonics, retelling stories and
participating in literary activities with purpose. In Math, we are working hard using
ten frames to learn larger numbers and continuing with simple addition. In Social
Studies, we will learn about Presidents Washington and Lincoln. In addition, we
will be having a Valentines Day Social on Feb. 14th from 12:30-1:30pm. Student
names for Valentine cards are on the back of this letter. Please support your child
writing their friends names on the envelopes of their cards.
Important Dates: Feb 13- 17: Love of Reading Week!; Feb 23-24: Rodeo Break;
March 17: Grading Day, no school; March 20-24: Spring Break; April 14: Spring
Holiday, no school; May 25: Last day of school! Until next week, keep safe and
