Direction. Each group is given 5 seconds to name the illustrations presented on
the screen. (1 pt)
Students will use flash cards to give their answer.
(Definition of words is given and the word itself is scrambled as a clue.)

2. What textual aid or non-linear text is appropriate to use in presenting numerical
information?
Task 2. MATHALINO!

The steps in transcoding linear text to non-linear text and vice versa.
In transcoding, you should extract information from a linear text to non-linear text. Here
are some steps for you to follow:
Step 1: Read the passage to get a general idea of the subject matter.
Step 2: Look at the visual to identify what information is needed to
complete the chart or graph.
Step 3: Locate the relevant information in the passage and transfer it to
the chart or graph. Use only key words or phrases- not whole
sentences.
A.
After introducing the steps, let the students transcode the linear text about “Water
Cycle” to non-linear text. Let them think what appropriate non-linear text should
be used in transcoding. (individual task) 3 minutes
(After the practice test, ask students why they use that certain non-linear type of
text.)
B.
After introducing the steps, let the students transcode the non-linear text they
created from previous activity. (Note: Erase the written linear text from the
activity.)
Direction. Each group is given linear text, they are going to transcode the text into
non-linear text.
Students of Cab-ilan NHS are not only the learners from the said barangay but also
