In a word document, write 5 words that are related to swimming and put a short
description in each.

1. BREATHING- Swimmers should always exhale when their face is in the water. This is
especially true when doing freestyle swimming. Many swimmers know this, but their tendency is
to hold their breath underwater, even subconsciously.

2. WATER- Swimming is the self-propulsion of a person through water, or a liquid substance,


usually for recreation, sport, exercise, or survival. Locomotion is achieved through coordinated
movement of the limbs and the body.

3. FLOATING- Floating equips swimmers with the ability to roll to their back and stay at the
water's surface, which places them in an ideal position to breathe. Floating also helps the
swimmer to conserve energy, which reduces the chances of drowning from physical fatigue.

4. DIVING- The more you dive and swim, the more your muscles lengthen, build strength and
develop endurance as well as flexibility. Scuba diving and swimming through the water can not
only strengthen your legs it can also help to build up your core strength, which is important for a
good overall posture in your everyday life.

5. PRACTICE- Swimming also requires an enormous amount of aerobic development. It really


is a highly aerobic exercise. To get that aerobic fitness in swimming and particularly to develop
the muscles that are going to propel us through the water we must swim a lot.
