Personal Reflection on Leadership Style as a Chief Design Engineer

As a chief design engineer, I am responsible for leading a team of engineers

in the development of new products. I am also responsible for making deci-
sions that impact the design, development, and launch of these products.

I recently took a leadership style test, and the results indicated that I am a
democratic leader. This means that I value the input of my team members and
I involve them in the decision-making process. I also believe that it is im-
portant to create a positive and supportive work environment where my team
members feel comfortable sharing their ideas and opinions.

I believe that my leadership style is well-suited to my role as a chief design en-

gineer. In order to develop innovative and successful products, it is important
to have input from a variety of perspectives. My democratic leadership style
allows me to gather this input and make informed decisions that benefit the
team and the company as a whole.

One of the things that surprised me about the leadership style test results is
that I scored relatively high on the laissez-faire scale. This means that I am
willing to give my team members a lot of autonomy and freedom in their work.
I believe that this is important because it allows my team members to be crea-
tive and innovative. However, I also recognize that it is important to provide
guidance and support to my team members when needed.

I believe that my strengths in decision-making include my ability to gather and

consider input from a variety of perspectives, my ability to weigh different op-
tions and make informed decisions, and my willingness to change my mind
when presented with new information. However, I also recognize that I can be
indecisive at times, especially when I am faced with a difficult decision.

I believe that this decision-making process is effective because it is systematic

and it allows me to consider all of the relevant information before making a de-
cision. However, I also recognize that there is always room for improvement. I
am committed to continuously learning and growing as a leader.

Conclusion

I am grateful for the opportunity to be a chief design engineer and to lead a

team of talented engineers. I believe that my leadership style is well-suited to
this role, and I am committed to creating a positive and productive work envi-
ronment for my team members. I am also committed to continuous learning
and growth as a leader.
