INFRARED IMAGING AND THERMOGRAPHY

The image capture is called infrared thermograph or infrared signature. Measuring the temperature of
an object using non –contact infrared instruments is a powerful technique with numerous advantages
over contact methods. For example, measuring energized electrical apparatus is safer using infrared
radiometry. The temperature of moving objects can be performed with imager where contact with the
object is impractical or where touching the object may cause damage or excessive wear to an
instrument. All objects having a temperature above absolute zero emit infrared radiation. The amount
of radiation is proportional to the object’s temperature.

There are three sources of infrared radiation that the camera receives:
