Australia Awards in Indonesia is seeking applications for the Promoting Transparency

and Accountability in the Public Sector Short Course. The course aims to improve
transparency and accountability in the public sector, especially in the justice and civil
service sectors. The course supports the GoI’s commitments to building a clean and
trusted public sector through strengthening judicial integrity and implementing transparent
and accountable bureaucracy. The course will bring participants to meet with leading
experts in the sector.

The course includes a two-week course in Australia and two workshops in Indonesia.
Australia Awards Short Course It is offered to 25 participants and is targeted to National and Subnational
Government institutions, academia, research institutes, civil society organisations,
Promoting Transparency and non-government sectors, and other relevant agencies or organisations.
Accountability in the Public Sector To apply for this course, you must be:
• Minimum S1 level qualification or higher with a minimum 5 years of relevant
experience
• Up to Echelon 3 level from the government
• Specialists/managers/directors from non-government sectors
• Target participants include representatives of the following institutions:
o The Ministry of National Development Planning
o National Commission for Corruption Eradication
o Supreme Court
o Attorney General’s Office
o Judicial Commission
o Indonesian National Police
o Ministry of Law and Human Rights
o Ministry of Finance
o Ombudsman
o Financial Audit Board
o Financial and Development Supervisory Board
o Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform
o Sub-national governments
o Civil society organisations including academia and research institutes
o Journalists and Media
o Private sector
o Other relevant agencies or organisations
• age more than 18 years old when Pre-course start
• pass all eligibility check

Women from disadvantaged backgrounds and people with disability are encouraged to
apply!

Applicants currently holding a scholarship funded by the Australian Government are not
eligible to apply for the short course.

Applicants are expected to have professional working proficiency in English. The


applicants’ English language competency is part of the selection process. The course will
be delivered in English.

Learning objectives
Australia Awards Short Course
• support GoI’s transparency and accountability reform efforts by sharing and
Promoting Transparency and benchmarking Australian strategies
• analyse the role of stakeholders in promoting transparency and accountability in
Accountability in the Public Sector the public sector
• explore ways Australia’s public sector supports effective collaboration between
government and civil society to promote transparency and accountability (the
course will combine expertise from academic institutions, international
organisations and civil society with the practical policies and day-to-day experience
of the Australian public sector)
• understand the role of independent media in encouraging transparency and
accountability in public institutions
• understand tensions between individual rights and public interest in corruption
cases
• develop tools needed to identify and develop innovative approaches to building
public sector integrity (including through digital platforms and IT-driven initiatives),
mainstreaming transparency and accountability and enhancing citizen
engagement (including measuring, monitoring and evaluating the impact on public
service delivery)
• learn about international best practices on improving transparency and
accountability in the public sector, including through standards, policy and
regulations, fostering dialogue and access to information to strengthen good
governance
• develop networks between individuals and organisations in Indonesia and
Australia to further enhance collaboration and sharing of ideas and innovations

This is a fully funded short course. Course fees, mobilisation costs, return airfares (domestic
and international), insurance in Australia (OSHC), accommodation (in Indonesia and
Australia), per diem, transport allowance and visa will be covered by Australia Awards in
Indonesia.

An information session will be held virtually by Australia Awards in Indonesia on 2 April 2024
at 10:00 am WIB. This session aims to guide applicants on the application procedures,
including the online application system, selection scheme and interview process. RSVP
